Duck dinner with no buckshot to pick out!
I bet the duck had other plans for the day.
Wonderfully detailed shots! Helps to have the right gear when these types of events unfold. Thanx for sharing.

Gorgeous shots. You must have been psyched. It is such a thrill to be in the right place and right time to capture nature like this. Well done. D850 great camera.
Thanks Joel!
I really was psyched and thrilled to be there to see and shoot the moment.
The D850 has become my go-to bird camera, mostly taking over from a trusty D5.
However, the D5 still outperforms the D850 for BIF motion tracking and in low light.
Lens is a 400mm ƒ/2.8. Almost everything hand held.

Saw one take a great blue heron in the parking lot at Costco a couple years back…never seen or heard of that before either.
Wow, that must have been quite a sight! GBH's are formidable.
Might have been one of those rare Kirkland eagles :)

JohnnyDW strikes again! Great photos that prove nature can be ugly and beautiful at the same time. Very well done.
