2) there are at least two different UHH outgoing email servers: news@uglyhedgehog.com for the digest, and forum@uglyhedgehog for forum response.

3) based on the error message that admin forwarded to me form their outgoing mail server, the issue is that somewhere in the ISP (Spectrum in my case) server chain, the filter (all major ISPs and many corporate & Govt email servers have an “appliance” in front of the email server to filter incoming mail), saw the large number of outgoing emails from news@uglyhedgehog.com as spam and rejected all mails after a certain number from the UHH outgoing server.

Now as to why now after years of getting the digest, who knows? There are many servers between your email server and the UHH outgoing server, and one of those has changed in some way regarding what it filters. Maybe a patch or an “upgrade” or something as simple as an admin changing the threshold above which some number of messages are considered spam and rejected. I have sent an email to unblock@spectrum.com, with the actual error message asking that they fix the issue (and copied admin), but who knows if it will work. And if you have an ISP other than spectrum, then I have no idea, but it’s not only an issue for you and me, it’s an issue for UHH.

Btw Linda, I’m betting you’re going to ask me why I bother with the digest at all, and after 3 hours on the phone today, I’m beginning to wonder myself 😡. Here’s the error log (with my email xxx’d out) - note the last 2 lines

The same thing is happening to me and admin says it points Spectrum. Interesting. I will have to call them.

Good luck, I wasted lots of time and not sure yet if it was resolved - hope you have better luck. Admin says they’re powerless to fix it, but as many UHH members have Spectrum as their ISP, they might want to try as well because if it keeps happening, it’s going to have an impact on membership.

Yes, we shall see. It is so weird that this is happening. I also wonder what else is being affected. I am going to try calling Spectrum this evening after work. I will let you know what I find out.

Spectrum/Charter is blocking UHH email. And they don't offer a public postmaster contact to resolve this. So the only thing to do is for their customers (you) to contact them and explain to them that you expect to receive UHH mail. And don't listen to their customer service telling you "everything is fine with your email account". Ask them to escalate it further. It's not about your specific account or your account's settings. It's about their mail servers refusing to accept email from UHH. Nothing else to be done at this point.

I am now receiving the digest regularly, but every week or so, email responses to topics I’m watching or commented on must bounce, causing my settings to be turned, off and I’m unsubscribed from responses to watched topics. I go in and reset my email response preferences, and it works again for another week or so.

This is getting really old. I normally use Gmail, but I haven't been able to receive anything for a couple of months. I have tried all sorts of suggestions to restore it, but to no avail. Microsoft even sent me notices about my email along with instructions on where to fix it. However, those suggestions were not in my tools section so I couldn't do anything there. However, Spectrum email was working. I called Spectrum and they were of not much use because they don't want to deal with 3rd party anything. My biggest problem is making time to resolve this issue because of my work schedule and my limited free time. With the Spectrum email, I was until today, receiving UHH. I don't get it.
