I've got a 12 Pro, but I'm still trying to figure out what you can do with lidar. I'm sure there are a lot of things I don't know about the camera on it.

The only problem with an iPhone and any other Smartphone camera is that when you are taking fast moving sports or action photos the phones shutter and iso setting cannot keep up with moving shots. Also, a cellphone camera does not have the capability of taking nighttime photos. This is where a digital camera beats out an iPhone or cellphone camera. Plus, there are settings with a digital camera that you do not have with a cellphone camera. So, iPhone and cellphone camera are nice to take photos of still items any camera takes still photos great.

Video of action looks pretty good. Night time images have never been an issue for me. I’ve photographed by the light of the moon on the beach, and plenty of other scenes such as the one below! It’s not Z9 quality, for sure. But it’s an image! Best camera I had with me. Other camera was in the car.

My Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G and the S10 Plus before it did just fine for night time photos. You simply need to know your phone and what it does, and how to do it.

Yes, my Canon EOS Rebel T3i can take some photos my cellphones have had problems with taking, but not that many.

A friend of mine just asked me a question about iPhone photography.
“Back to photography, I’m curious what your group is saying about the iPhone camera.”
She’s a very astute amateur photographer and I think she’s using an iPhone 13.
Personally, I have trouble using my iPhone XS Max, especially when there is insufficient light. Obviously, my first choice is my Nikon D5300.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Well the iPhone is a decent phone/camera but the Samsung phones are superior.
Apple buys displays and chips from Samsung BTW.
Apple makes decent products but is more of a cult now.
My Samsung S22 Ultra has an superior camera with an optical telephoto system and good low light performance.

I'm not comfortable using a phone as a camera. I guess I'm not steady enough, and I always manage to get a finger or two in front of the lens.

Cult? iPhone is number 1 in sales, almost double that of the Galaxy—far from a cult status, a phrase more descriptive of the Google Pixel 6.

I used my I Phone as a camera and nobody paid any attention when I would take a picture. The same people would seem uncomfortable when I used even a small camera, as if I had pulled out a weapon.

You might be a cult member and not realize it.

With 27.55% of the total, Samsung is the world's number one selling phone brand. In second place, again in September 2021, is Apple, with 26.75% of total sales. In third place, 15 points behind, is Xiaomi with 11.51%. In the top 15 worldwide, Nokia closes the ranking with 0.58%.

Using a phone camera effectively takes concentrated practice, an understanding of the camera's limitations, learning the controls and perhaps most importantly, having the right attitude. If your attitude is "this is going to be really bad" then that's likely what you will get.

Oh, you read it on the Internet, it must be true!

Not.

Just because Cult of Mac is the satirical name of a website doesn’t make it real. That professor is delusional.

I use Apple products HARD until they are obsolete or they break beyond repair. That’s five to eight years. I don’t worship them.

When I worked, I used other computers and phones in addition to the iPhone and Mac. So I know why I don’t want to use those other devices!
