Go thru this thread and see if someone does that.
I have a number in my mind, want to guess which one?

I believe if you review the FAQ / Sticky guidelines for the Photo Gallery, you'll find a reference saying the images should be images you took.
What if you're posting an image to illustrate a point or issue. I feel that this might be appropriate but I would state that the image is not mine.

I agree too. This thread is more of a much ado over nothing, just another something for the UHH hens to cluck over on a boring day in the hen house ...
That's morally incorrect and totally unfair. Credit should, and must be given where it is due.
There is a lot of variation in that question. Is it a picture that's been circulating online? There are thousands funny pictures circulating with no name for the one who took the picture. Is it something taken by a friend or relative?
I occasionally post a picture that my son took, but I always give him credit. As a general rule, I think you should mention the name if you know it. Of course, if you don't know the name of the photographer, well...
Question: If a 'professional' photographer, working for a local magazine rag sees a photo of yours at a showing, asks questions about where it was taken (incidentally w/o revealing they are a 'magazine photographer'), visits said site and gets "Their" picture published ( in this incident on the front cover of a local phone directory), is that plagiarism, or a compliment??? Maybe a fine line here? Interested in the professionals' opinions here - not to exclude others' though.....
btw, I am not a professional. I just photograph for the process and enjoyment (passion) for the art.
Btw, image was almost an exact duplicate of mine; same perspective, composition et al, i.e. almost a photo copy.
Interested in you're opinion. Thanks in advance.
side note: I am of an opinion on this matter: yet like I am want to say, I always ask my wife's opinion on something so I can make up my own mind..... :0
Yes of course the Phone book cover would be Stealing .

A no brainer, for sure. “Give credit where credit is due.” Or, stay home.
Don't do it. What is fair game is to post public links (available to anyone doing a search) to articles, videos, and pictures. As others have mentioned, be very careful with who is recognizable in your own photos, even if they are friends and relatives. I am careful with my images from street photography and ask for permission to use their image in advance even though public places are supposedly fair game.

Illegal, immoral, unethical, and fattening.
