Hello,
I am looking to purchase a new camera. I have used DSLR in the past and I am now considering buying the Nikon Z 611. My interest is taking pictures occasionally of family and friends at their events; I also used the camera whenever I go on vacations. I do not have a specific interest but just general photography once attracted to something of interest.
Your recommendation is appreciated. Regards and thanks.

I have been using one for months and have no complaints. I am growing to like it more and more as I use it. It seems that I am always discovering more new ways to use its features and that is after i have read books about it.

Thank you lefts and rangel28 - your suggestions are useful and helpful to make a decision whether to go z6 or z611. Also,
to all the recommendations received previously!

Did any of you consider the Z5 an an alternative?
I’m looking to go mirrorless and it ticks a lot boxes for me.
Seems packed with a lot of features I’m looking for.
Video capabilities aren’t important to me and I don’t need high fps rate.
Dual SD card slots, vs more expensive QXD card.
Is the BSI sensor that much better?
Read that it gives maybe a one-stop improvement in IQ.
Thanks for your thoughts.

The IBIS on the Z6 is great and has allowed me to get many sharp images from a moving car or bus.

I’m really looking forward to the IBIS (in body image stabilization) on a lot of mirrorless cameras but I’m referring to the BSI sensor, Back Side Illuminated sensor. Supposed to help with image quality at lower light levels.
The Z5 does not have that. Rumors are that it’s the same sensor as the D750, which is not a slouch. I rarely go above 3200 ISO. .

I thought BSI was a misspelling of IBIS - sorry about the confusion - I need to do some research as I've never heard of BSI before!

For your intended use, I would seriously look at the Z50 2 lens kit.

With the 2 kit lenses (16-50 & 50-250mm) you have an equivalent range of 24mm to 375mm. It has a built in flash which "may" come in handy once in a while. The kit is currently $1,200.

I’ll add another recommendation for the Z50. For the casual shooting that the OP seems to be talking about, the Z50 is an extremely competent camera, plus it is a lot of fun to use. I have several higher end cameras, but the Z50 constantly amazes me with the IQ. The AF is terrible for BIF, but good for almost anything else. True to the design of DX cameras, both the body and the lenses are lightweight and compact. It does not have IBIS, but Nikon does have other Z mount lenses with VR, and of course F lenses can be used with an FTZ.

Good point on VR. In addition to the kit lenses, I have the Z18-140 DX which also has VR. It is a real versatile lens.
