They used to say (many years ago now...) that you could own new Rolls Royces for ever, without spending multiple fortunes on them - just a single fortune. The trick was to order a new car from them. They had a 2-year waiting list. At the end of the wait, the day you pick up your new car, you order another one. When *that* one comes along, you could sell the previous one for more than the cost of the new one, to people who would pay over the odds to avoid having to wait for the 2 years.
