I still have an Olympus OM4-Ti and some lenses, but all need repair. I bought it in 1986 in what used to be Olden Camera in Manhattan, NYC. Someday I'll get around it and send for repairs. But going back to film, I doubt it very much. Digital cameras have gotten so good now and will only continue to improve. Digital Photography has opened up so many possibilities that's virtually mind-blowing. Then add to that, all the editing software out there being Photoshop the reigning king, you can create whatever you want.

If you get a high(er) resolution scan of your negatives, you can edit those JPEGs too with all your digital software tools. Personally, I've given up on manual focus film equipment for film. Instead, I use my manual focus lenses only on mirrorless digital bodies and my AF-enabled lenses on both my digital and film cameras. That might not be an option for your Olympus, if broken. But, shooting a film body with AF and IS-supported lenses greatly enhances the film process and the analogue results, then converted to digital.

Although normally I can resist, I just got the scans back for 9 rolls that I was working on editing as the 5-year old post was resurrected. Somehow, this 2017 escaped my notice when current, even if that old date predates my own change in online persona.

My favorite film cameras were, Alpa 6b, Rollieflex 2.8D with f2.8 Zeiss Planar Lens, and lastly, Graflex xlrf with an F2.8 Zeiss Planar lens. All produced great Photos. Am I wishing they were back in my possession? Not as long as I have my Sony A65 and some great Sony and Minolta lenses.

I have three film cameras sitting in my closet unused for about the last 5 years. A Nikon 35mm SLR, a Zeiss rangefinder, a couple of rolls of 35mm film, and a Mamiya medium format SLR. I can't think of a valid reason to use them. To me the benefit of digital is instant feedback, no cost for bad images, easy manipulation in Photoshop to improve exposure, sharpness, white balance, cropping, erase dust spots. I'm too used to all those conveniences to go back to film. It would be like going back to broadcast TV with 5 channels that had to be watched in real time, instead of cable with DVR and streaming.

I once restored a 1950 Chrysler Town and Country, and drove it on rare occasions as a collector's item to car club meets and such. That's how I view film cameras -- a collector's item from a bygone era..

Just up the street there's a "speed shop". On display in their showroom is a 1965 Mustang, red acoarst, and the shop tells me that the car's owner has sunk about $250,000 into it. Other displays include film cameras.

This is an old thread and I believe I posted before that I would but today inflation goes up, I am reaching retirement, cost of film sky high I would have to say no.

I have had them all: Linhofs, Rolleis, Leicas, Nikons. Alpas, Graflex XLRF's, and Zeiss Super Ikontas. I would not give up my Sony A57 for any or all of them. My desktop computer is the finest photo lab a photographer could want, and it is FREE. Feel free to blow holes in my thinking.

Go back...it would be like trading my smart phone for a telegraph.
