Hubby was off playing guitar with a friend...hmmm that gives me a day to myself! Of course had to take the camera out somewhere and a friend gave me some filters to play around with. So I went to this waterfall to see what I can do with them.

I know a lot of people don't like when they make the water creamy or foggy but I do. So I took a bunch at different settings and these are the one's I think came out ok. Also went to Beaver Creek which flows into the Middle Fork River and messed around there for a while...was fun!

Used both a Urth ND64 and ND1000, shutter speeds from 15 seconds up to 30 seconds at F8. Critiques welcome, how about composition..what would you change? Any post processing tips?

Thanks
Cindy

I like them all, Cindy. In particular I like the side by side comparison of the Beaver Creek shots.

I like #6 best. I would like wider shots of some of the closeups. After all is said, just my opinion.

As far as critiquing anything you did while taking the photos, that is hard without knowing what you did, there is no Exif data.

In the PP, I would agree with DougS about bringing the shadows lighter. I would also pull down the highlights a bit to bring out a bit more texture in the snow. However, that might be gone soon. Of course, this is just my opinion.

I would also give them just a touch more vibrance. But again, that's just my preference.

Nice set Cindy. I like #2, and also the two different shots of Beaver Creek... the first with the rushing water and the second with the milky look, both are really nice.

Wonder what I did to make them not have any Exif data? Would that be a setting on my D500 or a setting in LR on export? And thanks for the suggestions.

Update: found the setting in the export dialog box!

For me the slow exposure or "dreamy" are my favorite!

Great set.. The foggy stream is just a little to much. Do you have any with a shorter shutter speed. I would like to see them if possible. Keep up the good work.

ShelbyDave, Bubalolo and Ski....glad you enjoyed this and I am sorry Ski....I only have 3 shots of that stream and one is a longer shutter speed and the 2 that I posted. The longer shutter speed didn't turn out at all.

Great set! I use shutter speed with water first before filters. Thanx for sharingโ€™
