Hubby was off playing guitar with a friend...hmmm that gives me a day to myself! Of course had to take the camera out somewhere and a friend gave me some filters to play around with. So I went to this waterfall to see what I can do with them.

I know a lot of people don't like when they make the water creamy or foggy but I do. So I took a bunch at different settings and these are the one's I think came out ok. Also went to Beaver Creek which flows into the Middle Fork River and messed around there for a while...was fun!

Used both a Urth ND64 and ND1000, shutter speeds from 15 seconds up to 30 seconds at F8. Critiques welcome, how about composition..what would you change? Any post processing tips?

Thanks
Cindy

All those icicles! I'll bet when the snow melts, that will be a raging waterfall. I really like the one of the creek with "real" water (the first one).

Quite a pretty set! Love the creek shots. And I like the motion blur.
I think I would try to lighten up the shadows in the 1st two.

Thanks everyone for commenting. This waterfall does get raging in spring run off...I plan on going back a few more times as the water gets going. I will mess around with the shadows on the 1st as DougS suggested...thanks for the suggestion. As for the filters - the ND64 if a 6 stop filter and the ND1000 is a 10 stop filter...so that allows you to do slow shutter speeds in very bright settings.

Looks like you had fun experimenting with different techniques and with how to stay warm while doing so. Thanks for sharing this.

Well done!

I think I like #3 and #8 best. #3 because it falls between the full scene and the closer view of #5.

#8 because it covers more of the frame than #9. And you're right, lensballs are fun to use.

Thanks for sharing.
