Another Affirmative Action pick by Biden.

You don't feel that she's qualified?

My feeling is that she's far superior to AKB, who was only shoved onto the SCOTUS to overturn Roe. That was the sole reason for shoving through AKB's confirmation just weeks before the 2020 election.

Who would you have selected as a nominee?

Give us a name and the reason or reasons to back up your choice.

Tangibles I want tangibles something specific for blacks.

Blame the GOP for blocking voting rights bills!

Put the blame squarely where it belongs!

Blame the GOP for blocking climate change bills.

Put the blame squarely where it belongs.

Blame the GOP for running the states with the worst violence in the country.

Put the blame squarely where it belongs.

Blame the GOP for holding back funding for local schools to improve facilities and hire better qualified teachers.

Put the blame squarely where it belongs.

Blame the right leaning SCOTUS for gutting laws which would have helped blacks.

Put the blame squarely where it belongs.

The GOP has been blocking legislation which would have helped blacks pull themselves up by the bootstraps and better themselves.

The GOP at both the Federal level and at the State level have made it their mission to block improvements for blacks at every point along the way which they could.

The poorest states in the country are run by the GOP.

In the 21st century, technology is king, and those poor GOP states should be courting technology companies to build plants and produce what the United States is having trouble obtaining from China due to supply chain problems.

But the problem with that plan is the poor education and training of the potential workforce in those GOP run states. Companies need well trained personnel to fill the needs of their high tech manufacturing facilities.

Instead those facilities are being built where there's a ready supply of qualified candidates to fill the needs of those companies.

The BBB Bill had funding to train the under educated people such as blacks to fill the needs of the 21st Century manufacturing, but Manchin, Sinema, and the GOP blocked the bill. If any GOP members were brave enough to oppose #MoscowMitch's iron clad fist hold on his caucus, the bill might have passed with bipartisan support.

Put the blame squarely where it belongs.

If you want tangibles for blacks, it takes cooperation from local, state, and Federal GOP members to write laws to make the needed changes which blacks are looking for.

Decades ago, the country's manufacturers had on the job training programs which helped to retain employees in their companies. Those programs went by the wayside after WWII.

With our support of Ukraine, don't be surprised to see President Biden use the Defense Production Act to push US manufacturing to step up their military weapons production in the next few weeks. We're getting to the point that Stockpiles of military weapons around the world are being depleted in an effort to get Putin and Russian troops out of Ukraine.

The threat to Democracy around the world is being fought for in Ukraine.

A Supreme Court Justice, no matter what race or color, is not “window dressing”. That statement is just nuts, Sorry, but you have lost all perception.
Justice Jackson will add diversity to the Supreme Court, something this multicultural country needs in the supreme decision-making court.
There is little hope for understanding in this forum.

The disingenuous view of the fundamentals of biology as somehow optional contradicts the modern understanding of this area of study as foundational to the rounded outlook of an educated person. Trying to treat this area of knowledge instead as the terrain only of the biologist lapses into intellectual dishonesty and bad faith.

Claiming naivete ("I am not a biologist.") proposes the preposterous assumption that one can decide legal matters involving the distinctions of biology without knowing the defined natural order of this field of study.

For example, an educated citizen, or a self-schooled citizen, will or should know that with humans, gender occurs at conception. This biologic fact contradicts the social notion that gender is "assigned" at birth. Mother Nature does not linger until later in the process of dimorphism.

We citizens have an interest of the first order in the intellectual qualities of individuals at the highest levels of government. Surely, we do not ask too much when we expect these individuals to know the facts of life.

Where is there any law that a Justice needs to know biology?

Do any of the other sitting Justices have a background in biology?

I thought that a Justice needed to be knowledgeable in law and legal issues as a prerequisite to sit upon the "bench".

She's not qualified. Her judicial record is tainted by her sentencing in various child porno cases. That alone makes her temperament suspect. And she's forever tainted by the fact that she was chosen strictly on a racial/sexual basis. So for others to refer to her philosophy as "rule of law" is laughable on its face.

Yes, she graduated from Harvard Law. But that's no guarantee that she's had good judicial education, or that she brings "something special" having gone there. Harvard, along with other "Ivies" have become shells of their former selves. They went full "affirmative action", boosting minorities over more well qualified Caucasian and Asian candidates.

I have never been in favor of the bias toward Ivy League Law Schools, as well as Stanford and Notre Dame (the "Ivy" of the Midwest). While I believe that the level of law practiced at the Supreme Court needs to be on a different level, there are lots of candidates out there who would bring needed diversity to the Court that aren't "bred in the Ivy".

While the Allen Bakke case was monumental in terms of medicine, affirmative action can be undertaken in other professional fields without the potential for catastrophe that the Bakke case revealed in later years.

I haven't done any research on the subject, and your attempt at deflection from my point only weakens your argument. I'm only commenting on Justice Jackson.

And BTW, Amy Coney Barret was mentioned as a potential Supreme Court nominee well before she was actually nominated.

For black folks it is. In Biden’s mind look negras I’m a good white man. I put a negra woman on the Supreme Court.
Now make sure you get out and vote Dem in the mid terms and remember what I did and keep voting Dem.
Never mind how we screw you at every turn and never mind how our policies are hurting you. We really don’t like you.
Of course now this is all you are gonna get…….
