Very cool! I love those sheer drops! My friend and I went to Toroweap and overnighted there. Similar but different. I wish we had taken that drive up to Tuweep after seeing your pictures.

That just gives ya the reason to go back again...I do love the sheer drops as well.

How about the face on number #6 left side.

That's the hubby looking over the edge...had to talk him into laying down and coming out far enough for me to get him in the shot

Somehow I missed the start of this trip. Need to go back and look. These are great photos and I also would be too ‘fraidycat to lie on my stomach looking over the edge. It’s nice to see someone else can take the shot for me!
Neat to include your 1990 photo.

I didn't mind laying down out there but there was no way I was going to stand at the edge!! This road trip started on Jan 27th we drove from MT thru ID to NV to AZ to UT then back to MT.....so much fun!!

So we left MT on Jan 27th - made stops in NV, AZ and UT and returned to MT on March 3....UT is my favorite! We haven't been back to Southern UT since 1995, it was nice to catch up with a friend that lives in Alta...special thanks to Mild Candor....was really nice to see ya again!

One area is called Topoweep or Tuweep....most locals know it as Tuweep. It's a 61 mile drive on a not so good dirt road but the end of the road is an AMAZING view of the Grand Canyon from the North Rim....it's a 3000 ft vertical cliff and you can see the Colorado River from it. All these shots are from the Tuweep area.

The last 2 pictures are of my hubby and I ..... one is from this trip and the other is from the same area in 1990! I tried to remember exactly where we were sitting but didn't have the photo with me....so there was no way to recreate the same shot...oh well!

Cindy, I really enjoy all your postings, but this one is special. It has been several years since my last trip to Toroweep. I'm sure you looked off down the canyon in the opposite direction, too, but did you see the huge rapid of Lava Falls down there? You did if you knew what you were seeing. But from 2,000 feet up, it is not as impressive as it was going over it in a rubber raft. Thanks again for "taking" me back to Toroweep. I'm sure my chances to ever get there again are nil.

Interesting shots. I find UT the best, even if I visit only its national parks. The Grand Canyon pictures gave me vertigo. Thanks for sharing.

Cindy those are just incredible photos. I am one of those who would also get on my belly to look over the side but would be 20 feet back to take a look. I can recall the time when that type of road grader was in use in upstate NY when I was a little kid back in the early 50's. Did you happen to have 3010 feet of fishing line to do some fishing in the river?

Dennis
