Great set. Relax while you can, there may be a Great White Shark waiting right outside the surf line

Hi Curmudgeon
Thanks for the comment and for checking out the Elephant Seal shots. Indeed, some of the seals had some scars on their backs which might have been caused by sharks. Most of the neck scars on the large males come from guarding their harem.

Nice pictures. I have been there several times. Somewhere I have a shot of one giving birth.

I just got back from a week's long vacation at Morro Bay Ca. On the first full day my wife and I drove up Hwy 1 a few miles past San Simeon to the beach were the Elephant Seals hang around. The photo's below show what we saw there. Most of these shots were taken using a 500mm canon lens since it is illegal to get too close to these guys (The big males can weigh over 5000 pounds, so this is also a good reason not to get too close). There where 100's of these seals resting along the shore and didn't seem to mind all the people looking at them from behind the guard rail just above the beach. All questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.

A very good mix of shots of a subject not posted too often. You certainly did not need to get any closer with your equipment, and the angle of shooting is great for the subject. Excellent posting.

I thought the last one was a bunch of rocks until I looked more closely. You captured their personality beautifully.

Hi Boris77
Thanks for the comment, the Thumbs up and for viewing the Elephant Seal photos. The location north of San Simeon is an excellent location to view these seals, allowing the 500mm lens to bring them up close for the shots.
