Question About Lightroom Classic Title & Caption Metadata

Lightroom Classic has metadata fields for: File Name, copy name, Title, and Caption.

They all seem similar so why so many fields? How can they they best be individually used?

File name: the physical name of the file, not necessarily the title of the image, ie. IMG_01234.JPG.

Title: the title which may or may not be given to an image. ie. Sunset on the Ocean.

Caption: a short dissertation of what the image is about. ie. Sunset Taken at Ohio Key, Florida.

Copy Name: no idea what they mean or its intended use!

Or, whatever you want to use them for.....

On some images I have different treatments. I may have a black & white version as well as color,or a square crop and rectangular version. I put that information under copy.

The caption field can be very handy if using the book module. The caption field will appear in the book text field.

Also, Copy name: "copy 1 of 4" etc.

Some sites require title and caption.

OH!! (Lightbulb comes on) SO Copy Name is for virtual copies where the file name is the same. (Smack forehead)

Few days ago I posted about John's Big Notes. It was auto relocated to
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-731150-1.html

It's a free plug-in where you can post notes about images in LR.

Thanks. LR has a comments field, but it's always greyed out, not supported here, but used by plugins.
