Gee, I just wanted to comment on Jerry’s post and note I’ll be keeping/using my copy of his beloved D750 while transitioning to a newer technology. Nikon, Sony, Canon, Ford, Chevy, Ram, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Fender, Gibson all have their followings. I was hearing the “Nikon is declining” news at the same time I transitioned to Nikon from Olympus. It raised my eyebrows some, but no more than they were raised later that year when I purchased a new Les Paul standard (amid a decade of rumors have persisted that Gibson will shutter.) In short, the selected axe best suited my needs. If the selected manufacturer goes belly-up I’ll deal with it as I use the heck out of my equipment. Not available when I need to upgrade…well my first personal computer was a TI-99. Change happens—adapt and lead it.

I wonder if there were any financial benefits derived to those who wrote so prominently about making the switch to Sony.

For the most part no. Some of them who are youtubers would get more hit and thus getting money that way. Very few I would think that Sony actually pay them anything. Most did it because they are Sony users and want others to switch.

Some peolpe cant handle the truth and the new reality of the pro marketplace. Nikon Z9s was sorely needed and it will keep Nikon folks in the fold, but all major reviews, many of them longtime Nikon user, while heralding the new Z9 as Nikons best ever, all agree Sony and Canon users won't be needing to switch, and likely won't.

Just the facts, but in your "miracle Nikon fantasy" I guess there is no room for facts and reality.

CHG_CANON, take the Z9 for a spin. A couple of Firmware Updates and it will be one very nice machine. As of now, I happen to be getting great images with my Sony A1, Nikons D850, D5, D500, D750 also. I think that the real problem will be the production of Great Glass that these Cameras are going to need. I have the Nikon 600mm f/4 and the Sony f/4 and between those 2 lenses, it has created World War 3 in my home.

JUST OUT:

Nikon Z9 First Impressions - Pelican Eats Shark - Nikon 500 PF. Top Wildlife pro Mark Smith . What do you think?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr6GinQFZsI

Some beautiful footage and images here from Mark in his first of a series of videos using a new Nikon Z9 that Nikon has graciously loaned him for testing.

FYI, Mark is an independent and longtime Nikon user and a top Wildlife shooter that has moved mainly to Sony but still has his Nikons and lot of Nikon glass ,and has used the best Canons also.

Cheers

I am sure that you are more likely right than not. What I can't understand is why people who are Sony users would want others to switch to using Sony simply because they are Sony users. The only reason that makes any sense to me is that they would want to keep sales at a sufficient level to keep product viable in the market place. This same question would apply to any person using a product of any other camera manufacturer or as far as that goes any other product being used. I guess that in the sense we all want to belong and be "members of the club" and even the gossamer threads of our market consumptions connects us to other consumers who buy as we do.

People tend to want others to do and think the same as they do. No they do not need to keep sales as sufficient level as far as Sony users is concerned. Sales is at sufficient level whether they do something or not. Film users yes they want more people to use film to keep film manufacturers continue making the film.
