My mother went to her grave at 90, still wishing she had kept her '39 Pontiac.

If you caught Her YouTube video, she merely explains how she will be trimming how she puts everything into one basket. She wants to spend more time on doing instead of teaching. I did not see where she stated that she is dumping her Sony Gear. Did you ever stop to think that she is Human and maybe wants to do a reset. And she does not run Sony down in any way shape or form. Let's face it, I careless about Brand and I care more about what Brand will do what I need. Sony got into the Mirrorless game sooner than others and they do have a very nice product as does Canon, Nikon etc.. I think that Nikon has a Game-Changer with the Z9 as I have shot with it and I was very impressed. If a company were to come out with a line named "Dog Crap" and it worked great for my needs, well would it not make sense for me to buy it? I never say "Hey I'm the Nikon Guy" or "I'm the Sony Guy". I would if they provided me free equipment and paid for travel and food expenses. Time for us to not concentrate on Brands, But concentrate on which Brand suits the photographer. My name is not "Nick_Nikon".

Being retired with no money to spare, I'll just have to stick with my D200. It does what I need to do.

My first car cost $600 in late 1975 and it was a 69 Pontiac GTO.
My D750 is also all I need. Having FX with built-in flash, not so heavy, an articulating screen; great quality images, reasonable price; why look for anything else?
I wonder if there were any financial benefits derived to those who wrote so prominently about making the switch to Sony.
I hear you, Jerry. My D750 will remain in my kit forever…so sweet in the soft lights, and versatile enough for most everything else. However, as I continue to return to my sports roots the need for faster, more precise AF pushed me to preorder at a Z9 event. Because…
I have shot sports with a D500 (and 750 for sideline non-action) for a couple of years, and it was “perfect” until I shot a football game with a borrowed Sony A9ii…oops. Think going from stock mustang to Shelby Cobra. Considered moving to Sony, but that would have been a huge $$$$ hit on new glass, and the hassle of selling/trading my Nikon equipment.
Was invited to the Z9 rollout in Dallas. After putting the sample body through the paces I was happy I could get more features than the A9ii offers without the hassle of changing glass, or parting with my D750.
Now, if only that slow boat from China would make its way to my retailer…

Enjoy your Z9, truly an awesome camera. I was one of the folks here in all the "Nikon is dead" threads that said I truly believed Nikon would hit a grand slam with the then upcoming Z9, and not to count Nikon out just yet. Backed against the wall, Nikon came through.
Cheers

Except for the FACT that Nikon was NEVER "Backed against the wall!". They may not have been first to the mirrorless market, but when they came, they came with a BANG! The new Nikon Z lenses are nothing short of miracles in many cases. As ONE great example, I point to the Nikon 50 1.2 S and as a second there is the shortly-to-be-available 400/2.8 TC S which NO OTHER manufacture can even come close to! It took time to invent a new lens mount with the ability to produce next generation lenses and Nikon has done that, IMHO, better than anyone else. I am currently on my way to 100% mirrorless, sports and all! Best of luck to all.

Nikon admitted themselves in public how "backed to the wall" they were financially. How did you miss all of that ? Nikon sales had almost dropped off the scales. The Z9 will restore some needed luster to the brand . I don't know if Z9 sales alone will save their bottom line, but Nikon's medical and industrial optical divisions do well enough to keep the company afloat and Nikon is part of the Mitsubishi Kenzai.
Enjoy your belief that Nikon is producing "miracle" lenses that no one can even come close to. LOL Enjoy your Z9 and your Z lenses and be happy for all your fellow Nikon users. I am happy for you all. FYI I used pro Nikon and Canon gear for 40 years (both brands).
BTW another major news service has just chosen Sony mirrorless exclusively over Canon or Nikon mirrorless for all its staff photographers and videographers , Joining Associated Press, Gannett Media and UK's British Media who switched to Sony mirrorless away from Canon and Nikon in the past year and a half, worldwide.
If you read their reasons for switching in these links, they all cited Sony's pace of innovation and leadership in mirrorless tech as one of the major reasons, helping them stay on the cutting edge of digital imaging in a very competitive field.

Dream on my friend!
Some peolpe cant handle the truth and the new reality of the pro marketplace. Nikon Z9s was sorely needed and it will keep Nikon folks in the fold, but all major reviews, many of them longtime Nikon user, while heralding the new Z9 as Nikons best ever, all agree Sony and Canon users won't be needing to switch, and likely won't.
Just the facts, but in your "miracle Nikon fantasy" I guess there is no room for facts and reality.
