And how many believe it is only safe to use a Nikon caliper gauge on a Nikon battery!

That does it. I'm outta here.

To Capn_Dave. I just got the R5 a month ago. I put in the house current adapter from an off brand and the camera came up instantly letting me know that it was not a Canon product and warning me about possible damage. It also let me choose wether I wanted to continue with the off brand. I the installed the Canon adapter and all is fine. You may want to check if your firmware is updated.

I have always used Wasabi and I've never been disappointed. Some other batteries that I have tried I don't always fit as well. But for me, Wasabi is the choice. VRR

For me, I feel that with all the money I spent on the camera, why go cheap with 3rd party batteries.

I've had my BEST experience from "STK" batteries sold on Amazon for my Nikon D500 (en-el15) I use 2..one in the body, and one in the grip.. They lasted longer than any of the other 3rd party ones, and even including "original Nikon" versions . They are assembled in China with cells from Japan. Less than $20ea USD from Amazon..

Simply because manufacturers Gouge prices for batteries made in china just like all the others. Have you priced a Leica battery? Absolutely stupid to pay that kind of price when you can buy the Chinese version for 25% of the price. I'll buy their cameras, but their batteries no.

Agree absolutely on lenses - batteries not at all. Have several different Nikons and at least 3 batteries for each. That would be a considerable sum if all were OEM, and my experience across time with Wasabi has been excellent. I've actually had Nikon batteries fail, so far, not a Wasabi, at least that I can recall. This is one of those "Article of Faith" issues!

I didn't realize this, but Duracell now offers after market cameras batteries. Duracell is certainly a name we've come to trust for other devices. I ordered 4 Duracells, direct from the manufacturer, for extras in two different cameras. They were not bundled with a charger. So far, so good. Anyone else have experience with these?

No, but it would be great to hear of your results later.
I saw Duracell makes a replacement for the battery I use.
I just don't need any more batteries at the moment.

Thank you all for commenting! Based on your replies, it seems the generic batteries are worth a try. And, I think I will go with the Wasabi brand. Thanks, again…

My pair of Wasabl batteries (with charger) worked about three years before I noticed that they were giving me fewer shots (alternated with original Nikon batteries in two cameras). One battery starting swelling, then both batteries refused to charge in the Nikon charger. I got rid of the swollen battery; the other is now down to half of the original capacity, using its own charger.
The Wasabi were worth the very reduced price, but do not buy them for long term use.

I have used powerxtra and newer aftermarket batteries and chargers on my Canon cameras with no problems.

Manfrotto makes a battery (color red) for my Canon 5D Mk 4 that I am very impressed with. Not sure if they have one for your Nikon. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1598889-REG/manfrotto_manprobatc_professional_lithium_ion_battery_for.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

I have used Wasabi and their chargers for multiple cameras for maybe 10 years. I have had other unknown brands that died unexpectedly. If any battery starts to swell stop using it.

My Wasabi swelled up before photographing the 2018 solar eclipse. Now only Canon
