I'm sure there is...

I believe it was Rudyard Kipling who penned the immortal line “A woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a smoke.”

The supporters of Naked wines are ‘Angels’ not ‘Angles’. The name given reflects the ethos of the enterprise which is to support small independent wine producers making good wine. These producers are from around the world. I have been an angel for many years and enjoyed lots of their wines. They are a worthwhile enterprise worthy of Hogs support.

I generally only drink wines from Italy, France, Germany, Australia, and Chile because US wines give me sever headaches.

My accountant got me to sign up. Sounds like a great idea as the supermarkets are screwing all of the wine makes here in Australia.

Isn't there a saying about cigarettes and cigars? Something like "A cigarette is a smoke, but a cigar..." Google didn't help.

Jerry: the quote is real. . from that Great Cigar Aficionado: Ernie Kovacs. . ."A woman is. .just a woman. But, fine cigar is. . .a great smoke!" [And, Ernie was married to the Most Beautiful Woman in the World: Edie Adams. . .Check out HER photos in the 50's and 60's!]

By the way: Naked Wines are generally a very good deal! Especially for the price(s)! I am speaking as an acknowledged (by my friends) as an "expert". . .Beginning in the early 60's [Among my "friends" in those days were "Bob". . Better known as Robert Mondavi, Icon Extraordinaire!. . <smile>] My present wine "room" is stocked with around 1,500 bottles. . .mostly "local" red and white California wines with vintages from the late 90's through the present day. . .generally from Napa; Sonoma; and, my favorites in the Shenandoah Valley of Amador and El Dorado Counties (California's Best Kept Secret!) Last night's dinner was graced with a Morse Winery 2005 Zinfandel.

That seems interesting. Especially as assorted bottles.
I have been lately using a free app on my phone where you take a picture of a bottle in the store, and the app identifies the wine and posts numerical ratings of it from various experts. It has hit every time.
There are a lot of inexpensive wines out there that are really terrific. But I can't beat the price you are getting for a whole case.

Well, it's too late to correct that now.

Thanks for the "Angel" information. I'll consider it. Is it the way I described it, with that $40 going into your account to buy wine? What are the regular prices like?

Hi Jerry, I remember you talking about this a few years ago. I have been a "Naked Wines Angel" since the company started. I believe that the original team sold out to Majestic Wines a couple of years ago but the system still operates the same way. If you can afford it, you can order your wine from an extremely massive selection; minimum has to be 12 bottles: and they will deliver at a reasonable price as long as you sign up and make a monthly payment. I pay £25 a month; about $33: and use it to pay for our Christmas wine or for wine for other special occasions. The monthly payment allows you to access discounted wine and new blends made by lesser known wine makers. Obviously if you place a large order and your monthly payments do not cover the cost, the additional cost is automatically taken from your payment method. So far, I have not had had a bad bottle of wine.

Thanks. Good to know. Ordinarily, I buy one bottle of wine a year - to make fondue on New Year's Eve.
