There are been posts about "why" having to do with why/how/whatfor that we take pictures. If you don't do it and find it fun, get out of it and buy a new Apple 13. I have sold prints and etc over the years but have found that I just enjoy taking a good picture. I have never really lamented the price of a "new" lens or the occasional upgrade in the body albeit I am not a pixel chaser and still happy with my Nikon D810. These phones today take great pictures as I can remember when film and paper was what you had in the basement. ASA 3200 color film was a miracle for night and New Years Eve in New York. but if you used that pan ASA10 film you got a really grain-less picture that you could blow up across the darkroom from wall to wall if you also bought some roll enlargement paper. Yup still doing pictures at 80 and still find it fun.

Walking around at an even in my town where a lot of merchants are on the main street for several blocks and I was one hand point and shooting with with my Canon G16 while walking and heard a guy mention to his wife, " You can't do that with a cell phone my dear! "

Although you can find images anywhere, it is rare they are found on the shelf with the cap on.

I understand the point of the posting from the last sentence but, the preceding sentences are somewhat difficult to follow. You mention you're happy with your D810, which is still a good relevant camera and then you talk about film. So, which do you prefer, digital or film?

For me it means you cannot take good photos or even ANY photos if you don't take the camera off the shelf, take the lens cap off and actually take photographs. I thought it was pretty simple and not nonsense at all.

The OP said he is 80 years old. He still enjoys his D810 and was reminiscing about using film at a high ASA years ago. With all due respect do you really need a translator? I may be wrong in my thinking but I do think I am pretty close.

Just unnecessary drivel to bump up his post count.

Do you want a fanboy giftcard or some other prize?

I honestly think there are two different conversations going on here. I am now having a hard time wondering who the the person meant regarding the number of posts, you or the OP who said he was 80 and most likely does not need any great number of posts. Just making it to 80 would be a great satisfaction.

Unfortunately the thread seems to have gotten off track.
