Some time ago, I received some excellent guidance on basic settings for the RX10.

Long story short, the camera is back to it's defaults and I have no idea where I got the excellent settings advice from. Should have saved them - definitely will next time!

Would appreciate any recommendations, please.

Everyone has their own settings based on what they shoot. The main thing is to set up the camera for your shooting style.

I own a RX10 IV, A7 III, A7R III, A6000 and A6100 and configure them all the same so I don't have to relearn the camera every time I grab it. I wish I could configure my Nikon P1000 the same, but no, it has to be different.

This user has written several free, downloadable "books" on the RX10iv with settings that essentially make it into a point and shoot. The link here is a PDF file, and is for nature and bird in flight shots. I found some of it to be very useful. He likes to work with JPEG, but all the setting combinations i found work fine with RAW.

Try Ken Rockwell's RX10IV Guide for initial settings: https://www.kenrockwell.com/sony/rx10-iv-users-guide.htm.

Another thank you - that one especially makes it very easy.

Interesting how mostly similar the various sources are.

All that advice should cover it - thanks again, everyone who responded - so it's time for me to go shoot and everyone to move on to more exciting topics.

I do not have this camera, but if you are operating with basic settings I’d recommend just using the auto or Program mode. Then go take photos. The camera will do most of the work for you that exceed some standardized basic setting someone could give you.
