Last night at 8:02 PM SpaceX launched four amateur astronauts into space for three days. It helps to be a billionaire. I shot this with a Nikon D7200, 18-105mm lens at 18 mm, f/11, ISO 100 and 137 second exposure. It wasn't quite dark here. I admit I cropped it a bit and straightened it a bit. Also, I applied a little haze removal in PS Elements 2020. It is always hazy around here. I am about 19 miles from the launch pad.

Beautiful shot. Great work!

I'm trying to figure out if the rocket is disrupting the formation of the clouds as it passes through, or if that effect is due to the light from the rocket's fire trail backlighting the clouds as it passes through. I have never noticed that in other rocket launch photos.

Being that you don't get do overs on a photo shoot like this, and how well exposed the photo is, I think there was a lot more work, knowledge and skill than luck involved.

Really nice job, I know how tricky it can be from experience.

If a rocket passes through a cloud, it is bound to disturb it some. I think this time it is passing behind the clouds and lighting them up. But, who knows? Thanks for your response.
