Last night at 8:02 PM SpaceX launched four amateur astronauts into space for three days. It helps to be a billionaire. I shot this with a Nikon D7200, 18-105mm lens at 18 mm, f/11, ISO 100 and 137 second exposure. It wasn't quite dark here. I admit I cropped it a bit and straightened it a bit. Also, I applied a little haze removal in PS Elements 2020. It is always hazy around here. I am about 19 miles from the launch pad.

Great shot. We watched the launch from my sister-in-law's porch in New Smyrna Beach. It was awesome! The rocket looked like an inverted candle flame for much of its arc. We got to see the booster returning under its own power.

It's amazing what Space X can do that NASA contractors haven't been able to do.

Most would agree that this "mission" is risky. Four minimally trained "astronauts" in a capsule that will orbit the earth. Speaks to the difference between government run and private run operations. Space X has pretty much mastered automated space flight. RichKenn: excellent capture!

The most interesting, or intriguing, thing about this photograph is the proximity of the aircraft that flew near the flight path of the rocket.

Personally, I wish the crew a good journey.

Beautiful shot! I was watching from a little farther away. It was the most spectacular launch I have ever seen! I didn’t have a camera set up because the mosquitos were on a rampage but I regretted missing out.
