On June 1, I bought a Kindle on June 1. Included was an offer for MS 365 for one year. I didn't want that, and I indicated as much. I got a surprise today on my CC statement. I was charged $55.11 for one year of that 365 program. When I spoke to Amazon, they said it was part of a package, and they could not refund part of it. So, basically, they added $55.11 to the price of the Kindle. I've been on the phone with several people, but at this point, I'm stuck with the charge, and there's no way for me to download the software.

Just a heads-up when you order something electronic.

That may be analogous to trying to buy a crock-pot without the lid. Or a new car without the doors.
Can’t be done.

Just return it and purchase another one elsewhere. If you have an iPad, the Kindle app on the app store is free.

Why can't you return the Kindle you bought on June 1 on June 1?

I've never had a problem with Amazon, but if I did, I would report it to my credit card company. You might be able to convince them to reverse it. Then have your cc bank issue you a new card with a different number so when Amazon tries to renew the subscription next year, the charge would be denied.

Then, if they place a negative report on your credit score, sue the living hell out of them!

Just a good reason to stay away from Amazon. Too many devious tactics.

What "devious tactic"?? You failed to be aware and ask the right questions.

Jeff Bezos is the "Nasty Surprise" you get when you deal with Amazon. He is the "Quinicential asshole" of this era. Do business with him and take your chances. Saved alot of money buying from Amazon?

This type of thing - a surprise charge - has never happened to me, and I'm going to keep working at it to get a refund. Since this is a subscription, I would be paying for it every year.

Outrageous. Good luck, Jerry.

There have been numerous questions asked of Jerry on this transaction and he has not answered a single one.

Your credit card issuer might cancel the charge altogether. Consult it for a remedy.

To those who don't know. Amazon customer service is 888 280-4331. This number has served me well. You are on the phone in a matter of minutes with a person and I have always been satisfied with the response. I do many transactions with Amazon and the few times there is a problem I have always been well taken care of by their customer service.

I have been talking (as needed) to them for years. Here is their toll free number. 888-280-4331

If you end up getting some one that is difficult to communicate with just ask to be switched to someone in the USA.

Good Luck

That's the IRS, you can't talk to anybody at the IRS.
