On June 1, I bought a Kindle on June 1. Included was an offer for MS 365 for one year. I didn't want that, and I indicated as much. I got a surprise today on my CC statement. I was charged $55.11 for one year of that 365 program. When I spoke to Amazon, they said it was part of a package, and they could not refund part of it. So, basically, they added $55.11 to the price of the Kindle. I've been on the phone with several people, but at this point, I'm stuck with the charge, and there's no way for me to download the software.
Just a heads-up when you order something electronic.
Personally, I avoid Amazon as much as possible. This is another reason why I do.

This type of thing - a surprise charge - has never happened to me, and I'm going to keep working at it to get a refund. Since this is a subscription, I would be paying for it every year.
...return the Kindle. Should end *this* problem. I have an ipad with the Kindle app and that works just fine for me. But, if you're married to the device, why not get one from Ebay?

That's really awful. Contact your Better Business Bureau - they may be able to help. Also refute the charge on your CC. The CC company might get you a refund.
I didn't know that you could speak to someone at Amazon.

...haha, well you and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum. I use Amazon for many things and love it. Sure there's a problem once in awhile, but it's usually me! I might do more than 10 transactions a month, but I'm very active and still doing jobs so it's a great tool for me...

Jerry, call your credit card company and contest the charge. If you didn't authorize they will investigate for you. However, you didn't state what you thought you should have paid.
To those who don't know. Amazon customer service is 888 280-4331. This number has served me well. You are on the phone in a matter of minutes with a person and I have always been satisfied with the response. I do many transactions with Amazon and the few times there is a problem I have always been well taken care of by their customer service.
Jerry, I'm confused (my new normal). What did you do originally to indicate you "didn't want" the software? Was there an option, with the $55 price tag, to say yeah/nay and you selected nay and the price was reduced at checkout? What does your order history reflect on the details page?
Re contacting Better Business Bureau, amazon is a massive multi-billion-dollar company. They and Jerry will work this out much more easily and quickly than filing a complaint with BBB.
Re speaking to a rep: I have done so once, and was pleased. I simply filled out the form to have them call me and they did almost immediately.

BBB can't do anything...they are not an enforcement agency.

Hi Jerry... Just a couple of thoughts, 1. Was there anything in writing that says you did NOT want that particular service from Amazon? (A paper trail is best to have.) 2. Did Amazon tell you before hand that this service was part of the package and could not be deleted? (If not, then you may have a case.). I suggest you do as someone else says... contact your credit card company and tell them there was an UNAUTHORIZED addition (and the amount) added to your credit card, and that you want to STOP PAYMENT on that transaction. Your credit card company will most likely cancel your credit card and immediately send you a new one. (Which may be a good thing.). But in any event, good luck.

I recently bought a Kindle for myself and then last month purchased one for my wife and I didn’t have any problems. No add-ons or additional charges. Don’t recall any offers of anything additional at times of purchase.

They cannot refund part of what they did not put together. They only sell the package/product. Kindle more than likely did not offer any options.

Would the use of a 'single use card', limited to the price of the Kindle, have prevented this?
