Love that Studebaker hawk. I had a 1956 Power Hawk as my first "pet" car. It was all original except I transplanted a 289 V-8 with Carter AFB 4-barrel carb to replace the 259 V-8 with 2 barrel carb. Pretty powerful car before the big displacement horsepower race began.

IMHO Studebaker was way before the times.

I never owned a Studebaker but I had a friend who had a Studebaker truck and swore by it. They were great cars but I never cared much for the design.

I believe this car and its siblings was/were designed by Raymond Loewy. Not sure but that is my recollection, Beautiful car, nicely photographed.

Awesome looking car, never saw one. Looks like a cross between an old vetted and a 57 Chevy
Any idea of value, I want one.

Another great contribution. I don't know, this might just be me, but I can remember when I was younger and if I saw a car coming down the road toward me, I usually could identify it before it got to me. Buick, Olds, Chevy, Ford, Plymouth, Dodge, Cadillac, etc and very often nail it as to the year. Now if I wonder what make a particular vehicle is, I have to walk around it and find the insignia and read what it says.

Well, I have no idea how many of us there are, but you certainly aren't the only one!

Silver Hawks were only built in 1958/59 along with the supercharged Golden Hawk, in 60 and 61 it was just "Hawk" with no supercharger until 62, when it became "Gran Tourismo Hawk." In 56 there were four Hawks, Golden Hawk (one of which I have owned for 43 years) with the 352 Packard and no "B" pillar, Sky Hawk also hardtop with no B pillar and the Stude 289, Power Hawk coupe with Stude 259 (I believe, don't have the book handy) and Flight Hawk pillared coupe with a six cyl engine.

I thought there was a GT Hawk. My older brother had one for a few years. I believe his was a 63. Don't recall what engine it had in it but it was a pretty hot car. I got my driver's license around the time he had that car, but he never let me drive it.

Nice photos of a stylish vehicle for its day and still pleasing to the eye. Had a friend who had one. I believe it was a 1960 with the 289 cu.in.

Buddy of mine had one. We dropped an Oldsmobile 400 CU in engine in it. Went like hammers.
