Visiting friends nearby... seeing the sights. My Nikon left at home. Took this with iPhone XR and processed it with Lightroom. Nothing special. Just trying to see if a decently composed pic was possible on the beach where good composition is hard to come by. I took it mainly for the leading lines. Found my thumb in the upper right corner. Hid it as best I could. (It was worse originally) The dot in the sky was a kite (I think.) Probably should be removed.

I thought it came out fairly well... considering. Any thoughts?

So you suggested monochrome as a possibility. I went back to Lightroom and did it that way. Not bad. Actually better than I thought it would be. But it needed more contrast in monochrome. So I'll post it that way below. Personally I like it better in color.

BTW... when I examined it at 800%... the "kite" was not a kite. So it's gone!

I don’t know, I like the monochrome version better but to each their own. Your thumb is less obvious in B&W. Either way it’s a very nice image. Great eye and comp.

The monochrome is very nice. It has a broad spectrum of tones. If you prefer the color version, you can probably correct the upper right problem with a clone and stamp tool. It can be made to be gray sky instead of sand colored sky. That having been said, I really like the monochrome version, the tonal differences in the clouds are nice. The composition is great!

Nice shot! There are 4 kites in image and they add a "beach" flair to the image.

Thanks Barry.......it's only a matter of time before these phones catch up to cameras. It's already started on some models and the results are impressive until you try to crop........don't do that .....hhahaaahaaa

Actually I did crop on my entry. Not severely... but some. Maybe 1/5th. I'll experiment with some severe cropping just to see what I get... or don't get.
