Visiting friends nearby... seeing the sights. My Nikon left at home. Took this with iPhone XR and processed it with Lightroom. Nothing special. Just trying to see if a decently composed pic was possible on the beach where good composition is hard to come by. I took it mainly for the leading lines. Found my thumb in the upper right corner. Hid it as best I could. (It was worse originally) The dot in the sky was a kite (I think.) Probably should be removed.

I thought it came out fairly well... considering. Any thoughts?

The black dot was not a kite and is destined for deletion.

I'd be interesting to hear what you might have done differently or how you might have improved it.

The dl shows a kite rather plainly--keep it. I have had a lot of luck with editing phone shots in LR.

First-rate composition and pleasing scene. You did well.

Great composition. I really like the texture of the sand, the fence and shadows of the fence and, as you said, the leading lines. The fence and stairs of the house further down the beach all taking one’s eye to the peaceful beach scene. The kite, IMHO, should probably go. It might make an interesting image in monochrome.

So you suggested monochrome as a possibility. I went back to Lightroom and did it that way. Not bad. Actually better than I thought it would be. But it needed more contrast in monochrome. So I'll post it that way below. Personally I like it better in color.

BTW... when I examined it at 800%... the "kite" was not a kite. So it's gone!

Wooden sand/snow fence has long been capturing the photographers eye, very good image you have captured.

Nice beach scene! Clarity is amazing! I’d leave the kites in - they are a common sight along the beaches in my experience.

I have the same thumb/finger issue in many of my phonagraphs. I have resorted to holding my iPhone only by the edges and awkwardly trying to deftly touch the shutter button while trying to avoid inadvertently pressing the power button on the edge.
