This strange flightless bird has been visiting my bird feeder and birdbath the last few days. I've checked the bird ID websites, but as of yet have been unable to identify. If you know what type of bird this is please let me know.

I have put a little chili powder in the bird feeder…the birds can’t taste it and the fuzzy tailed flying rats run away from it..rather fast i might add..

Gluttonbird, they show up in my yard from time to time. This incredible bird can eat 5 pounds of sunflower seed at one sitting, and never gain an ounce!

Well taken series. It's very entertaining and just trying to make a living like everything else has to.

In my experience around ranches I have come to know these little cuties as a type of ground squirrel. I have also come to be known to shoot them on sight with whatever firearm I have on me at the time. They are destructive critters and occasionally carry pneumonic plague.

Great photographs of him though.

love the last shot...my husband put a trap under our big pear tree and catches the squirrels
that are lusting for pears...he takes them a couple of miles away to another neighborhood and
turns them loose. i think they find their way back though.
