Beautiful images Carol. I normally prefer natural backgrounds, and the natural background you have in #1 is certainly not disturbing. But I have to admit that the flower "pops" more on the black background, it totally draws your attention to the flower, so I and my wife Susan (who I had to consult as I was unsure myself) vote for the black background.

Wow, really nice.... Ours out here in Oregon is just starting to grow and will bloom in early summer. Kudos on the great shots.

Thank you for your vote and thank Susan, too. At first, many seemed to prefer the more natural look. However, as time went on, many began to favor the black background. For the most part, I do what I see as necessary to make an appealing shot.
