This is the last color of my backyard Amaryllis to bloom. I've already posted orange and solid red. This one just started to bloom a couple of days ago. The first shot is with a natural background. The second is a very similar shot with the background changed to black. The third shot is another blossom with a black background and finally a close up shot of the blossom interior . I hope you enjoy these. I would love to know whether or not your prefer the black background.

Carol, you have done a wonderful job with these. For me, I like the natural background. It is subdued and does not detract from the flower.

Thank you. I worked on that background quite a bit to tone it down and I agree that it works. Our back yard has white vinyl fencing and sometimes I have difficulty avoiding having ugly white blobs in the background. That why I've been working on the best way to make a whole different background.

Good shots, great blossoms ! I have similar problem with decking slats in the background on my deck. I have experimented successfully by using a fill flash and then using luminosity masking in On1 Raw post processing to drop out the background.

Thank you, Tony. At times, I've used flash with some success and then further darkened the background if need be.

Excellent work, Carol! I like natural backgrounds, but the black is dramatic and well done.

Thank you, Mike. On this one I could go either way. Sometimes the best background I can come up with in camera is not good at all. At least this way I have an alternative.

Carol, these are beautiful and great shots. I prefer the natural background but not by a huge margin. Either way is beautiful.
