We're home and it was a marvelous trip...great scenes, good weather and small crowds around Capitol Reef N.P. We did the 70 mile, eight hour, 4x4 dirt road loop trip of the Cathedral Valley...The 124 mile Notom-Bullfrog/Burr Trail Loop and several other fun day trips. Uploaded three SD cards last night and began sorting through 900+ images...gonna be a long weekend!!
Been trying for years to find an old, colorful stone cabin to photograph. The few I've found have either been unattractive or inaccessible. To find this jewel in an old cottonwood forest with no fence or signs to stop me, made my day. And, almost flew by it at 65 mph...just happened to get a glimpse of the cabin and made the quick U-turn!! Early afternoon light with a mostly cloudless sky was the only issue...still, I'm happy with the results and hope to return to this sight again!!
Wow! Wonderful shots. Rock houses are pretty rare.
Great find, Jim! You did the 70-mile loop in the Subaru? Start posting your other finds.
Wow, great find - lots of artistic possibilities here !......thanks for sharing
Great find & shots! Someone back in time was a heck of a stonemason.
I think you had perfect weather for it.

Great photographs. Someone knew their stuff who once built the house. Makes me wonder how long it took them to gather all those rocks as I am sure Lowe’s, Home Depot or Rocks Are Us were not around to deliver them.
Wow! What a great find. Great shots. Whoever built that cabin hauled a lot of flat rock. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice series. Don't you wish it was possible to hear the stories those rocks could tell.
Great find, excellent pictures. The calm sky adds to the feeling of serenity, peace, silence.
Wonderful sequence. Oh the mystery now begs the question. Who built it and how long ago?
What great photos! They’re so good that a historian could probably tell you more about it from the location and the details in the construction.
