Great find, Jim! You did the 70-mile loop in the Subaru? Start posting your other finds.
Thanks and yes, in the Outback, the 17" tires sure help...was debating doing the river ford as the water was 14" deep but common sense prevailed and we dove in!! There is a stretch of several miles where it is quite rocky and slow going so you just take it easy. The National Park Service employees were discouraging everyone not to do the Cathedral Loop and were putting out bad info on the road conditions...claiming there was over a foot of snow in the upper reaches and treacherous road conditions and the river was to deep to ford...follow your instincts, the whole of the loop is dry as a bone!! I went back the next day and corrected their BS!!
BTW, yes I shot the Rough-legged hawk shortly before we met up at Bear River.
Great photographs. Someone knew their stuff who once built the house. Makes me wonder how long it took them to gather all those rocks as I am sure Lowe’s, Home Depot or Rocks Are Us were not around to deliver them.
Thank you Joe and it probably took many wagon loads of stone to complete this cabin...and some skilled hands!!
