I have an older Fujifilm that only uses the LCD. I hate it. I like using my viewfinder; it's easier for me than the lcd screen. I do use live view when I have to, but those times are few and far between.

Had to use a camera with only a monitor for work for a number of years. Ended up carrying one of my own cameras which had a viewfinder, though if it had been lost or stolen, I'd have been on my own. Some apparently can make them work - I can't. If it doesn't have a viewfinder, no interest.

I have D5300 and the articulated screen is great for me. I am blind in my left eye (Glaucoma0 and 50% gone (Macular degeneration) in my right eye. I need the screen. However, I prefer the viewfinder. I am a relative newbie with lots to learn and Gas aside from thoughts of the D500 or a Z6 or others can wait. At 73 I'm still learning, my sight won't improve so I can benefit from waiting. I am also fortunate to have a brother (Canon camera) Dr. J Michael Davey who is a wonderful photographer. He has a coffee table book of photos from his bycycle ride around Australia and Tasmania raising $50K or Kids with Cancer. He's on Youtube and online with his books and photos.

I find it more difficult to hold the camera steady when not held up flush with my face.

Does Hoodman make a shade?

So I went out a bought me a new compact camera (approx $1,000) because I could no longer carry around a DSLR and a collection of lens. Funniest stuff, all I can do is point the camera in the direction of what I think is my memory documented scene. If one is out and about on a sunny day you might as well close your eyes also. I sure enjoy the size (Canon G7X Mk III vs. 6D Mk II) but that is all I can recommend. Aloha, Glenn

I wanted a compact camera about a year ago, but a viewfinder was a requirement, so I bought a Canon G5X Mk II, which appears to be essentially a G7X Mk III with a pop-up viewfinder, slightly more zoom (5.0 vs 4.2) and 4K video vs FHD. It was worth $150 more for the viewfinder. I still use my DSLR, but now I can travel light when I want to.
