I don't think anyone has mentioned Ebay brokers who list and sell your items on Ebay for you. Have they?

I guess here and E-bay are the only options I can think of.
Would like to hear any other suggestions.

While I cannot offer any advice, I do feel your pain. My mom (passed last year at age 98) used to have a sign on her refrigerator that said, "Old age is not for sissies!" So true.
As you go through this process and the years ahead, hopefully the memories of all the places you've been to, the people you have photographed, and all the other experiences you've had with that gear will stay sharp and in focus.
Best wishes to you, and good luck.

Wise choice. I have had EXCELLENT results selling cameras on this UHH forum in the buying / selling section. Have always sold for more than I would elsewhere, but I would emphasize that I always post a selection of clear pictures for each item. Always clean the item up as dust can be very prominent in such photos. I can't believe the dirty cameras people post on eBay. I immediately bypass such posts.

Twice I sold gear to KEH and both times they quoted me a reasonable price but then sent me a check in a lower amount. The gear was in top-notch condition -- no dust, no fungus, no scratches, nothing -- and I sold it only because I was upgrading. One of the camera bodies was less than a year old, but they said on inspection it had "dust on the lens."

Needless to say, I won't do business with them again.

Good luck with Ebay. I have been trying to de-clutter and listed a number of items on Ebay in lieu of a garage sale. I had 5 sales in the past 6 months. I recently got an email from Ebay restricting the account (which I've used sporadically since 1995) unless I gave my social security and birthday so that they could collect state sales tax on the proceeds. I immediately delisted everything and moved it to Facebook Marketplace. That the states want to start collecting taxes on tag sale items and Ebay asking for my SSN was a bit too much and I can only imagine thousands are closing their Ebay accounts. Ebay has never been an Amazon and never will be. FB Marketplace is another avenue, but I'd try KEH too.

Consider donating items to a local high school that offers photography classes.

I gave most of my photo books and related photo magazines to a local college and took a very healthy tax break. I'm sure you can do the same with the equipment.

I received a quote from MBP for an item just a few weeks ago & it was over double that B&H offered me. You could check with them also. Good luck with the move.

What do you anticipate reading or referencing within the next couple of years? Keep those. Get rid of the rest. If you find you need to reference something you tossed, either buy it or check it out of the library. You won't need to do that often. Equipment? Same thing. If you aren't using it and have no real plans to use it, either chuck it or give it away.

We're facing the same thing with 47 years of accumulated everything. We're building a new house. Cheaper than remodeling. So, we've got to decide what's really worth taking with us, which is going to be not much.

I am turning 80 in 2 weeks. I moved because the mountains were too cold. We moved from a 3200 mountain home to a 1750 Town House South of Chapel Hill. I had a big box of cameras my brother had left me wghen he died. Some I gave to others, some I sold, and I am working on restoringgeveral Leicaas

I can only assume that local camera clubs, and professional organizations will start meeting again, so that might be an way to network with others in thinning the herd of items. In my case, some of the items are fairly heavy--my Cambo camera stand is probably 200+ lbs. and 9 ' tall. It arrived via large truck. I also have a Mole Richardson fog/smoke machine probably in the 50lb range too. Another pro photographer decided to put all his overhead grid lighting in a dumpster rather than selling or even giving it away--guess he didn't want to anybody else to have his toys and tax-wise they were recouped!

You can sell good stuff to Adorama, MBP, or KEH. I have found all good to work with.

I sold off my Sony and some of my Canon APS-C gear a few years ago. I sent a list of the items and photos to MBP, KEH, and UserProPhoto (Roberts). MBP gave me the overall highest price for the lot and I went with them. I got on the average about 60-70% of what they sell the items for. I could broken down the shipments to the highest bidder but would have netted only an additional $25. One lens, the standard Sony kit lens 16-50, varied in price from $5 to $50. If a vendor has a lot of them in stock, they will offer little.

I have another batch to sell later this year and will repeat the process and include B&H and Adorama.
