Great shots. The hawk around here comes by my bird feeder several times a day to see who can invite to lunch. He is really fast and has snagged humming birds right off the feeder.
Ballard,
Thanks.
That must be something to see.

You are a quick study! Stability of camera huge, especially old guys like me!😀

Dr J,
Remember Peter Pan he said " I won't grow up" I have revised that, " I'm not old, and I refuse to be."
I have been mostly shooting off of the tripod since I put up the blind in the fall. It started because of shooting at slower speeds in
low light, Sunup and Sundown, but it just started to become normal. When in the blind you can only hold a camera at ready for so
long.
When the warm weather returns and I'm back to shooting from the boat I'll need to go back to hand held. I prefer hand held but its
hard to argue against the stability of the tripod. Now if I can only think of a way to isolate the camera from motor vibration and boat
movement.

Like your attitude. Joking about the age, only 78!
With Nikkor lenses (with your D850 you covet - Canon has same deal as do Sony, I am sure) put on VR Active on the lens for vibration reduction and movement) and gimbal head for panning. All set except for a cash deficit! 😀 Some have the control on the camera if I am not mistaken.
Keep shooting and posting! ❤️

Am referring to use on tripod on a boat with little or no pitch or roll. Have never tried. Easier hand held for sure.
Great shots - great focus - never seen a dove look so beautiful
