According to Jerry's OP, we = "the population". Spend some time working on your reading comprehension "skills". The population = every member.

I've re-read Jerry's statement and am perfectly comfortable with my last statement...and my reading comprehension skills. I'll leave it at that.

Go back and see how JFK used "we" in his inaugural address.

I took "We" to mean the United States as a nation.

This is a very sad and hard time for all. I spent over 3 weeks caring for my father who still has complications due to the virus, and I know what it can do. However, I can not wear a mask ....there is no way you can cover my nose and mouth at the same time without me having a panic attach in a millisecond....so for people that get upset because someone is not wearing a mask....please calm down...you have no clue what or why that person does not have a mask on.

I make sure to social distance when I do go out and have to be around people but I do not and can not wear the mask....I just can't do it. Hope this helps to make people understand that you never know what is going on in someone else's life and to not make hasty judgements.

Do you wear a clear face shield? If not, why not?

She tested negative for flu and covid but had blood clots in both lungs and they put her on oxygen and meds to clear it up, slow her racing heart and pain killers-it hurt her a lot just to breath. They haven't figured out what caused it yet. They told her that if she hadn't come in when they told her to she might have died in a few hours. And she should have come in at least two days sooner!!!!!!!

The blood clots raise the suspicion that the test yielded a false negative. Clotting is a feature of Covid 19.

Check your local VA hospital to see if they are giving shots to veterans. I did and my VA hospital gave me the shot the next day with a follow up date for my second shot.

Locally (here in NoCack) they are doing the vaccine. Of course there are the tiered guidelines because the vaccines are still in limited supply. They are vaccinating Veterans, but due to the limited availability, they are providing vaccinations to Veterans in these categories at the moment:

Veterans

Age 75 and older (not sure if this still holds true now that they've dropped the age to 65)
Dialysis
Chemotherapy
Solid organ transplant donors or recipients (this includes Veterans waiting for transplants)
Homeless

Veteran frontline essential workers

First responders (firefighters, police)
Education (teachers, support staff, daycare)
Agriculture and food processing
Manufacturing
Corrections workers
U.S. Postal service workers
Public transit workers
Grocery store workers

As they say at VA, if you've been to one VA, you've been to one VA. (Meaning sometimes the uni in universal isn't. That being said VA was getting so much better before I retired. I'm betting they are more organized at the COVID shot rollout than most states though) So if you're eligible check into it.

Unfortunately, the United States ranks #1 in Covid. I know some of you will blame this (rightfully so) on politicians, and this could get moved to The Attic, but we have to put a great deal of the blame where it belongs: on the population.

We are confronted with a deadly, contagious disease for which there is no cure. What do we do? We say it's a hoax. We don't restrict our activities because we don't want anything to impinge on our freedom. We travel hundreds of miles to meet friends and relatives. We refuse to wear masks. The result: the United States ranks #1 in Covid.

Locally, our numbers are increasing by about 100 a day, and the deaths are climbing faster, too. The 1918 flu lasted for about twenty-six months, and this one could surpass that.

I agree with you on this one. Most healthy people will survive it. But you have responsibility to the ones who have health issues.

I know someone out all over the place who gotten covid & possibly gave it to his brother ( both older with health problems). His brother is deceased now with secondary cause as covid on the death certificate. The new strain that is here. I don't understand why all international travel isn't shut down. In my opinion , it should of never reopened until the world has a handle on this! Is this a legal form of invollantary manslaughter?

Unfortunately, the media uses the numbers as "pandemic porn"

This does not allow us to focus our efforts on making our country functional and productive.

Can't do it, can't do the bandanna style, can't pull my shirt up over my mouth, even my snowmobile helmet is open faced for this reason....I was attacked when I was 13 and had tape and a hood put over my face....there is now way anything can go over my face....it just is not happening and never will.

Hopefully from my experience, people will understand that you have no clue what someone else has gone thru and why they are not wearing one....it's not always because they are stubborn, it's not always political....you just never know.

So what you're saying is screw everyone you come in contact with because of your infliction.

How do you come to this heartless interpretation of her words? She is just giving you her (valid) reasons why she can't wear a mask.......

No we're not. At the moment we're tenth in the world in per capita deaths and have been around that rank throughout the entire period. Belgium is number one.

Go back and look at the charts, 4th in deaths per capita per John’s Hopkins. What measurement supports your claim?

The latest data show that we are now trending downward, finally.
