Here are a few more from 1/14's Sharpshinned Hawk visit. The first is a repost of the image I managed to process on the 15th. The last is a not very good save of the Hawk looking for the Woodpecker that is trying to hide under the branch.
It ended well, for the Woodpecker, the Hawkhad to look elsewhere for lunch.
This is one of the times when my rig reminds me it can take better images then I can.
Canon t3i, Sigma DG 120-400 4.5-5.6, from a tripod, through the picture window.

Thatโ€™s one great set of images, Bill. I feel good for WP.

Oh don't I wish. A simple 90d and a Tarron 150 -600 would be wonderful.

Thanks Bubalola

In my archives I have a series my Dad shot of a Sharpie having a go at a Northern Flicker Woodpecker. Ultimately the Flicker flew away. But it was beak and talon for a while.

Thanks MerryTexan.

I'm thinking, if birds pray, "Lord, If you get me out of this I promise to stay in the woods on the other side of the road. Ill never come back here."
Because its has not been back yet and it was a daily visitor.

They're all great photos, but that last one shows how savvy (and brave) the woodpecker is. Cool pics!
