For those who either did not or would not understand the reason for my post was to question the response to the virus with lockdowns. And to say the cure (lockdowns) were worse than the disease. Heart disease kills many millions of Amercans every year, no panic, no lockdown not even a wimper. One might argue heart disease is a national emergency. We have a higher rate of death from heart disease than many other countries. And it is a mostly preventable disease. Why no lockdown It also kills a much higher percentage of the elderly. Nobody blamed Trump. Even NOW officials in several cities and states have returned to lockdowns. So I repeat Why the Panic

If heart disease kills millions of Americans every year, the lockdown makes even more sense. Without lockdown hospitals will be overloaded with Covid-19 patients, leaving no room for 'regular' patients such as patients with heart disease...

That is exactly what happened. Because of the over reaction. panic. hospitals refused to treat other patients.Patientswith other fatal problems were refused treatment. It is unknowable how many died due to this lack of treatment. ORs were "closed" except for covid patients because of the panic .

!8 million cases of Covid cases in the US. 3 Hundred thousand deaths. That means the "death Rate" is roughly 1.6 %/ Yes it's a serious problem. It must not be treated as unimportant. But why the Panic. Why the Lockdown. Why the destruction of the economy. Since the highest percentage of fatalities occur in those over 70, for those under that age the death rate is ten times less or 0.16 % or a survival rate of over 99%. Thye cure has been worse than the disease( or is ir purely political, so as to destroy the "Trump economy--purely a wild speculation)

“Patients with other fatal problems were refused treatment”.

It is no longer amusing to read the crap that Trump supporters are chucking to defend Trump’s twisted logic.

No one ever blamed Don Covita for covid19.

Trump's handling of the pandemic is now a textbook cautionary tale of macho amateur hour gone feral.

That's true but they are blaming him for letting it get a good

hold in America and doing nothing to contain the spread.

It's not just about the deaths. One of the reasons for the shutdown in the first place was keeping hospitals from being overwhelmed. Now they are nearing capacity. This is a miserable disease if you have it bad enough to be hospitalized, and there are now know to be long lasting symptoms we don't even know the extent of yet.

My lovely Daughter Rebecca, 42 with, to my knowledge no pre-existing conditions, physically fit, etc., was diagnosed with COVID in late April. While she was never hospitalized, she is still fighting the after effects. I am so thankful that her college, Northcentral in Naperville IL, had granted her tenure before the pandemic began. Northcentral has "furloughed" a number of staff....
