If I put one of my own sky's into Adobe Sky Replacement to use what should I do to the image before I insert it? Do normal adjustments I would ordinarily do, including sharpening? I always shoot RAW(L) but of course that could be changed. Any suggestions will help.

Try it various ways and see what you like...

Merry Christmas!

Yesterday I made a replacement of the sky in an old photograph. Sky of Uruguay 2020 and the foreground known to all

Buena composición y soñar con esa geografía en Uruguay

Pocos uruguayos acá, soy de Montevideo, vos?
Dónde sacaste ese cielo?

So you are saying it was your own photo of the sky? Nice image!

Yes, that's his question. And had only one answer so far, from @bleirer

I missed that. Weather I am doing a sky replacement or a multi layer composite I process each individual image before I use it. Making adjustments within the composite image can be tricky

Is this Adobe Sky Replacement for Lightroom? I don't know anything about it. If not why can't you use an adjustment layer, use a mask, or make it a Smart Object?

I'm sure Will will reply but: My immediate reply is Why? In most cases PS (not LR) does it in one click or Luminar does it as a plugin.

I learned a long time ago the best tool for the job. If I'm cutting 2x4 lumber I use a circular saw, if I'm building a stud wall I use a nail gun. Maybe a hand saw and a hammer are "purer" but I'm interested in fast results that are just as good so I can go on to other things. JMHO

A bit of PM discussion leads to my asking this question. When you look at the attached photo, what do you see there ?

Acoarst I already know what’s there, but perhaps it’s less clear than I’d expected for other eyes. So I’m left to ask of you:

“What is this a photo of ? What do YOU see when you look at it ? What kind of scene was in front of the camera ?”

Thanks a bunch and a half !

It is a Wall Paper.

About normal table height above the floor I suppose. For elevation above sea level you’d hafta ask Mr Holniker.

Thank you very much. Did it perhaps initially strike you as just a careless Photoshop sky replacement ?

I had assumed it was obvious enough, but an odd discussion in PM was making me wonder if somehow it was really not so obvious after all as to what’s actually in the scene.

Here it is again if anyone else has any reactions to express:

What do YOU see here ? (It’s NOT an illusion or a trick question)

I replace the sky first, then adjust photo so that the sky lighting matches to the photo. Then any other processing and the last is sharpening in Topaz Sharpen.
