I have already answered that question a couple times. It's a video of myself, for something to do with potential fraud. But it must be something about me in particular they are suspicious of, since several others have gotten the card without the video.

John, I actually thought it had to be something to do with your specific situation but didn't want to further upset you or embarrass you. Have you asked the bank for the specific reason that YOU need to supply a video? Ask to speak with a supervisor when you call Synchrony.
Just a note here- as someone else stated, I also find Synchrony Bank to be a royal PITA to deal with for many reasons. If not for the fact that I live in NJ and am planning a couple of big ticket B&H purchases in the next few months, I'd just cancel my PayBoo card. There have been instances when I have about 10 days between the time I actually receive my bill and the date the payment must be received by Synchrony. Sorry for the mini-rant.

I have a laptop with a webcam, but they won't take that. I've been applying for credit cards all my life and I never had to make a video. B&H says that's the bank's policy.

I simply applied. No video, no image of any sort.
Follow the advice given and call B&H.

I have already said a couple times I talked to B&H and they just tell me I have to deal with the bank, and the bank won't tell me why I have to make the video.

This is so odd. I'm sorry I have nothing more to add.

Can you get a friend to make a video and email it to you?

My son-in-law indicated that there are instances when they cannot adequately identify the specific customer they require a TrustStamp verification. He works for Synchrony.

Dear John: As I mentioned earlier, I never had a problem of any sorts with B&H. This is very puzzling. It seems that you are eligible for Payboo. Given the circumstances you could call B&H. Get to the bottom of this problem by having someone specific in customer service or contact the bank customer service representative. I have found that when you have someone’s name and it is written down you may get better satisfaction. I don’t know if this strategy will work for you but it is worth a try.
The other alternative is flying from SanFrancisco to New York. Book a hotel room and visit B&H. It is an impressive store. LOL! Just kidding.

For what it is worth, you can call or use
e-mail. If you call you may find yourself in voice-mail hell.

I have Payboo and have used it at B&H. I applied online at the B&H site. Nothing else required.

I do not have a card, just the ability to use it at B & H to offset sales tax on purchases.

I don't understand any of this. I have the PayBoo card and I certainly didn't have to make a video. What kind of a video?

About a year ago I was placing an order at B&H when I saw the offer for Pay Boo. I applies online filling out a lengthy bunch of forms. To my surprise I was told I was not accepted and had to call the bank.
I have a credit score of over 800, Pay my bills on time and owe nothing to anyone. I get offers in the US mail and emails all the time saying I am preapproved for a new credit card. Could not understand being turned down.
I immediately contacted B&H customer service and canceled a Two Thousand ($2000) order, after being told it is the banks policy.
I investigated this Pay Boo; It is a valid bank card with high interests of, so if you miss a payment you will pay. They over no incentives points or cash back that most Credit cards usually do.
It is a Store Credit card you can only use at B&H. I would think B&H would have some control over policy for a Store card.
B&H Lost a Sale and a potential customer. I made my purchase from another provider

I question your statement that it is a card that you can use only at B&H.

Upon further investigation, you are correct. I cannot use this card for purchases other than at B&H.

I can't understand why they couldn't identify me by my SSN. My last name is very uncommon, and I have lived at the same address for more than 20 years. I have made purchases over the years at B&H.

John Swanda:

Do you fully understand the meaning of the word, "arbitrary?"

We (in this thread) are just ordinary guys, I've been one for a long time. When I deal with other people, I expect to be treated as an OG. I applied for and got a PayBoo a while ago, an ordinary guy in an ordinary transaction - ask, receive.

You have been arbitrarily denied what I (arbitrarily) got. There is no good reason, it's the randomness of the universe. You cannot appeal, THEY have their rules. No, they don't care if you're inconvenienced. It doesn't matter, that card is a BAD idea, anyway, and nobody has refused you service at the grocery store or gas station.

I got my card because I wanted to save a few bucks in sales tax. It took covid 19 to smack me in the face with the truth that I, Little Danny, am defunding the police (and fire department, road department, bus service, etc.) with my stinginess. Nothing is free, we who use are obligated to pay, like it or not.
