Definitely. I have a trusty D800 for on-location and street, and my thoroughbred 850 which never leaves the studio.

I have a question to this, I am looking to purchase a new camera. I wanted to get the 850 replacement (860, 880) given the choice would you purchase the 850 or wait for its replacement?

It would depend on the release date and the advancements the D860 brings to the table. There would have to be something extraordinary, not just more pixels, to make me wait.

It would take a lot to improve upon the 850. I believe the camera delivers everything needed for an outstanding image.

Hope this is as a straight foward question as I would like it to be. For owners of the D 850 after using the D 850 would you buy again after your experience with it?

Best camera EVER.

The choice of camera can depend on your use. Many macro and bird photographers are still sporting older D7100s due to the pixel density which is 10% higher than the D850. I still use both the D7100 and D7200 in technical photography for this reason. But the D850 is definitely on my list for the artistic modeling shoots. It looks like the prices are creeping down.

Pixel density. 7100. Bah humbug. No love.

But must say, nearly all of this thread has been refreshing, even uplifting ! Everyone just flat out loooooves this machine, and declares it so, without a whole lotta geeky explanations. Makes me almost want one for myself, just from reading all that raw enthusiasm ... and I don’t generally take to SLRs but so what. I’m solidly convinced that if I had one I would absolutely buy it all over again for sure :-)

Do you think that Nikon will continue to put more resources and energy into the DSLR market?

Yes, I would buy it again but being a fan of wildlife I really like my D500, and I have the D750 which I always use for people get togethers. So what you plan to do with it should be a consideration.

Rumors are that they will be announcing a D860. Since development takes time and money the resources may have already been spent. Just guessing at the possibility.
