Hope this is as a straight foward question as I would like it to be. For owners of the D 850 after using the D 850 would you buy again after your experience with it?

I do have both a D750 and a D850.
Love them both, and use them both.
When I want fine art, high quality images, images that are croppable and still have resolution to spare, I use my D850.
When I want to take event photos, which will mostly be shared via social media, I use my D750.

D850 is perfect when I want high resolution, excellent quality images.
D750 is perfect when I want to smaller files, still with excellent quality images.

At social media and up to 8x10 (uncropped) sizes, you can not tell which camera I used, image quality is excellent on both. However for much larger sizes, or for more flexibility with cropping the D850 wins.

Absolutely! I don't think there is a better camera out there.

No doubt about it!
I have other Nikon cameras that I still use but the D850 is something else! With those 46mp files you can crop into a frame as far as you have to and still have remarkable IQ. It doesn't take the place of filling the frame but that isn't always possible.
I still lust after medium format, but this is the best compromise there is.

Turned out verrrrrrrry straight forward ! Given the generally contentious nature of UHH discussions, that collectively tells you so much more the mere words within any individual reply.

Coupled with high quality glass, like Nikon primes, the image quality is astonishingly superb. File size and image resolution allows for significant cropping if necessary. Good shooting technique is essential with a D850’s firepower as minor camera shake negates the benefit of all those pixels.

Enjoy. Don’t let the nerds convince you to sell a kidney for new lenses. They have a grossly exaggerated notion of just how resolution works.

When you double the pixel count, you get a 40% gain in resolution, not a doubling. 40% is useful but not a whole new game.

It’s the totality of the D850’s capabilities that earned its reputation. A bump up in resolution is just one element, hardly the main essence of a great camera. Use and enjoy the WHOLE camera (and keep both your kidneys).
