Welcome to the club. It's happened to me more times than I can count. You're not getting old.

If that is a "Senior Moment", then I have been a "senior", off-and-on, for 40 years.

That may not have been senior moments, but brain cramps from over exertion of the thought processes. lol

Yep, been there done that. I always try to move settings back to a "middle road" before putting the camera back on the shelf.

Your title reminded me: at 84, I've never had a Senior Moment-flat refuse to; however, hardly a day goes by without an "Intellectual Interlude" very similar to your action!

LOVE IT!

Senior moments plague us all. Went out the other day without my SD card. Thanks to the duel card camera it wasn't the disaster it could have been.

Leaving the camera in an odd state is something all of us experience at times. A few months ago I did what you did - left the memory card in my PC and forgot to put it back in the camera. After about an hour of shooting I came home to discover that none of those great shots were saved. That was when I learned my camera had a setting where it would warn me of a missing memory card; it is now turned on but for some reason the camera's default is for it to be off. I suspect the only reason for that is for a camera show-room.

Live and learn.

After reading the replies I feel I am in good company! For me it's shooting off a tripod; when I do that I dial in a 3 second delay to let the potential camera shake calm down before getting the shot. Cannot tell ya how many times I have finished with the tripod and been walking along, saw an interesting composition, stopped to snap off a couple of shots only to press the shutter release and get this dramatic pause. DUH!!!

What's a senior moment??? At 83, I am still 25 every day. I refuse to grow up!

Growing older is inevitable. Growing up is optional!

I think this has happened to the best of us... I set my ev to +3 for dark indoor shots at the start of my vacation, and then forgot to set it back to 0 for most of the rest of the vacation in very sunny (and hot) Malaysia. You win some and you lose some... but you quickly learn from these experiences. The good news is that at least with digital, I didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars on film processing costs at the end of my vacation only to learn the bad news.

I load the images as soon as I get home. Often, I leave the card in the in the image transfer device or loose on my desk. I have learned through heartache to place the card back in the camera and format it then and there. I have a two cards but never carry them loose for fear of loss; these little guys are expensive!

Done that several times. I added a check of camera settings to my preparations. Then later, I set the camera to f/8, 125 sec, and Auto ISO as a starting exposure.

I had taken a few shots of my dog. She is a dark red/brown and was on a white floor. The shots were coming out too dark, so I pushed the EC up to +3. That worked fine.

The next time I used that camera I was taking shots of leaves on my lawn and couldn't understand why only auto gave the right exposure, any other mode was horribly overexposed... UNTIL, finally, the epiphany! DUHH - I still had the +3 EC set!
