I know they are a reputable company, but I am feeling a little apprehensive about giving them this info. Would like to hear your opinions and/or experiences when selling to them.

Any one can deposit money into your account, as long as they have the account number. They can not take out money, if that is what you are worried about, unless you sign paperwork to allow this.

Give them the number and get paid. It's fast and painless.

If you bank with a major bank, they could use a Zelle payment that uses only e-mail. That e-mail is linked to your account, so any $$ sent to it goes directly to your account.

If you're paying by check, this is all information printed on the check. It's how they can identify your account to the bank, and without it, they cannot process a claim against your bank account. Any time you write a paper check, you're handing over this information.

If you're not paying by check or using a direct payment from your checking account, they don't need this info.

He said he sold them something. The question is whether they said they would pay him by direct deposit in his bank account. If so, they need the information to deposit the money.

I get my SS payments direct deposit. And my health insurance is collected directly.
But in todays world being protective of your bank accounts etc is necessary.
I have 4 banking accounts in 2 banks. I use one bank for some online pays.
And another less It is my master account.
MPB is a very good company I sold gear to them.
But you must be a bit paranoid these days.Good luck.

Same feeling here but on several occasions things worked well. They don’t keep the info, apparently all done through the banks.

They are probably trying to determine who you really are. For all they know you stole the item you sold them.

Received this a few hours after I gave them the info this morning. Thanks, again, to everyone who responded!

"Just letting you know we've sent cash straight to your account, and you should see the payment clear within 2 business days. Thank you for choosing MPB, Tony!"

You apparently sold them something and they want to make a deposit directly to your account. I have sold them some items in the past and they payed directly into my bank account. Fast and safe transaction. MPB is a English Company with a location here in the US to deal in used equipment, both buy and selling. Good company. Usually the best offer I have received when selling camera gear I no longer use.

Tony I have used MPB several times to sell equipment. They route the cash directly to your bank account. I have never had a problem with it or them.

Routing numbers are available online from any bank, nothing private. If they are reputable and making a direct deposit give them your account number. All of that info is printed on the front of your checks.

He SOLD to them, they need to send him money. But likely that is not the best way.

PayPal. Routing numbers I would only trust to financial institutions, government or employers, not retailers, IMHO. Physical checks are processed by the payees bank not themselves. Sounds funky. These days best to even for ePerchases to use PayPal or similar, Credit or Debut Cards online or other the phone, with YOU placing the call to them.

I recently sold some of my gear to them and got the same email. I thought for a moment and gave them the information they needed. The money came to my account in one day with no problem.

It was great experience with MPB, the price they gave me was much better than I got from KEH. I would not hesitate to deal with them again.
