Fortunately I don't have tons of equipment. I have a bag for my Leica M10 and M6 with various lenses all in the same bag. I also have a Nikon bag for my D800 and FE. Nikon bag is black and Leica bag is brown. Pretty simple. If I buy 90mm and 135 mm lenses for the Leicas I will have to buy a bigger bag.

Color code the contents. A piece of yarn can be tied to a bag indicating that bag's content. Smaller "Think Tank" lens bags have a clear vinyl pouch designed to hold an ID tag. Some use slips of color-coded paper in those. You might try a method I saw used by a photographer in Shenandoah NP. When not using a particular body he bundled the neck strap using a zip-tie and let that strap hang out of the camera bag. He knew exactly which Canons were in what case. Personally, I use whatever camera is hung on the back end of the lens I'm carrying. One body is much larger and heavier which is an instant give-away, even in the dark.

One thing to do is to put a different and brightly colored address tag on each one. I do that to help me find my camera bag among other similar bags while on a photo trip. Same process could work for you.

Most of my equipment is in protective cases or pouches, for instance three identical lens cases that fit three different lenses. Also flashes, remote triggers, backup drives, chargers, and more.

Most of these are black, so I used a silver Sharpie to label them.

If that ever rolls up to more than one go to bag, I like the colored tie wrap approach.

I keep one Sharpie with the pen museum in the house, and another with the photo gear, in a case labeled ‘Sharpie’.

With all due respect I can't help but wonder how you will know what is in each bag from 50 feet away if you put the tag INSIDE the bag. Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? Asking for a friend.

I rely on a local military surplus store to print dog tags. Then I affix them to the multiple bags I use. In this case, it's the first bag of two used for my 4x5 film holders.

I have a lot of different cameras, but they are all in different bags. So I know which camera is in what bag by the bag brand.
I wouldn't want to advertise in any way, what is in my camera bags.

will

I have three DSLRs and three bags. Each bag holds a DSLR and the lenses I usually use with that particular camera. Not an exact science but usually works for me.

dennis2146,
Maybe he was humorously suggesting poking the metal wires that you find supporting the 2’x2’ roadside signs “into” the bags so you can associate a sign with each bag.

Somehow I doubt it but what can I say? MAYBE...

I was hoping he would answer to let us know.

I use HeroClips. Different color for different camera (similar to you- several similar bags with different cameras in them). The HeroClip serves additional functions, most frequently suspending/hanging pack under tripod, so I don't need to worry about extra weight for stabilizing. Comes in handy for hanging pack from a branch, fence, etc so as to not have to lay it in adverse ground conditions.

You might try gaffer tape, can be acquired from various vendors. I usually buy from eBay. Available in many different colors. Sticks like duct tape but can be removed without any residue, in case you want to change the use of a bag. You can cut the tape to any size and/or shape. Some photographers use it to cover brand name on case. Works for me.

Don't advertise what is in your bag that will draw attention. It's like advertising, "steal me ".
