I have several cameras living in similar black camera bags. Does anyone have a slick way to put a clear, durable, discreet label or other marking on the bags so I can easily identify the contents? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

In a few days there will be millions of obsolete election signs around. You could write on the back of some of those and stick one in each bag. You would know what was in each bag from 50ft away.

Luggage tag listing content. Get different colored ones so you can just look at the color and know whats inside. In case you forget it is listed on the tag

I use little paper and string price tags. Since I don't care to have others know what is in the bag, They are easily removed and replaced / reused.

This is something I have been thinking about for myself. I am hoping to acquire another camera and will have lenses I want to use with it and I have lenses I will use with my existing camera. My idea was to put a different color zip tie on the ring for the strap. Sitting on the shelf side by side I will know which camera bag is which by looking at the zip tie.

Get yourself some luggage tags that allow you to slide a card in for ID.

I use luggage tags and insert a white blank piece of paper with a description of that is inside.

On a humorous note, a friend of mine used a diaper bag with large lettering on the outside "DIAPER".
He place an old diaper in the side pocket that was very conspicuous. No one ever bothered his bag.

Guess I do not have that much stuff.
Have a backpack and a Domke bag and look different.

Mask around the handles or straps and spray paint them in unique colors. There are special paints for vinyls and plastics. Just do the bottom inch of each strap.

Tie a colored ribbon around strap or handle. I identify my luggage that way. Easy to spot at airport.

A more practical choice might be colored paracord. A braided paracord bracelet snapped onto your gear can be converted into a useful length of rope.

If you want information on the bag:

Use your printer to make a label in a pattern or color you find memorable, or print a picture, or use a business card.

Glue the card to the case.

Cover with clear, self-adhesive plastic, such as shelf liner or cold laminating plastic. Leave a wide border of this plastic around the label.

If your label is narrow you can use clear packing tape.

If your label is large, look for clear adhesive vinyl at fabric and craft stores by the vinyl- cutting machines. They also sell rolls of colored vinyl there. You could cut a square pr some equally simple design with a scissors and stick it on your case(s).

Wal-mart and Dollar stores have precut, adhesive, vinyl letters. Label your bags alphabetically. They also have preprinted labels for decorating kid’s rooms and art/design. Look for colored flowers, or memorable quotes.

With all due respect I can't help but wonder how you will know what is in each bag from 50 feet away if you put the tag INSIDE the bag. Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? Asking for a friend.
