We are looking at new printers and the Epson EcoTank printers caught our eye. I did a search and only found 3 hits, only one recent. What has been your experience with them? My wife insists on scan, copy and FAX along with printing. We do little photo printing so their quality isn't of prime importance. I found 3 on Epson's web site, ET4700 for $279. ET4760 for $499.99, and ET15000 for $599.99. The ET15000 can handle paper up to 13"x19" so it might be used for some photos. Currently the largest I print is 8"x10" usually 4"x6".

I would appreciate comments from users of any of the EcoTank series. Thank you in advance.

Bill

As an alternative, I have a Brother LC3033 tank-style printer, which I use for everyday print. It saves a lot of ink money.

All the Epson Ecotank printers appear to be 4 color: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black. As such, they are probably lousy for photos. Most photo quality inkjets have at least 6 colors: cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow and black. Some of the best have 8 or 10, usually adding some grays, an "optimizer" and possibly red or even blue inks.

When I did a search on a major retailer's website for Epson Ecotank printers, it only listed 2 as "photo"....But when I clicked on that it showed 2 Canon printers instead! (One of them was the Pixma Pro-100 that I use, which is an 8 color printer that uses rather tiny ink cartridges... I'd never describe it as "eco", but it makes excellent photo prints!)

I have the first generation eco-tank ET-4550 printer . It is now over 2 years old and I have printed thousand of pages and well over a thousand photos. I am only on the second set of inks. It does very well on 8x10 and smaller. It does particularly well with post cards. It isn't museum quality but compares very well agains "drug store" prints. Would I buy another one? Yes, but I hope they come out with one that will do larger than 13inch wide.

You may want to look at HP printers and their 'instant ink program'. It has been super for me for a number of years.

I too have an Epson ET-4550. I absolutely love it. Got mine from Best Buy not long after those printers came out. If you do a lot of printing and are using cartridges, the Eco-tank printers will pay for themselves in a matter of months, considering that a full set of carts can run as high as $35-50 and don't last very long.

I also have the Epson ET-4550, all in one, and I LOVE it!
I buy my Epson ink directly from Epson with free shipping and the Epson ink is the same as Amazon Epson ink.
I have saved almost twice the cost of the printer in ink savings alone.
Costco has the ET-3760 all in one, on sale for $279.99, with two additional bottles of black ink.

Amazon, Epson ET-3760, $409.99 - https://smile.amazon.com/Epson-Wireless-Cartridge-Free-Supertank-Ethernet/dp/B07NK8PM4D/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Epson+EcoTank+ET-3760&qid=1601814470&sr=8-2

I do not print pics with my Epson ET-4550, all in one, I leave that to Costco.
Yes, I would definitely buy it again!
It is nice to have a decent printer with scanner, copier, fax built-in.

We have the 4550 bulk tank printer and love it for what it is, a real workhorse but NOT a quality photo printer. We use it for office work and draft-copy photos. Take care & ...

I had an early version of the eco-printer and it was saving a lot of money for a couple of years and then it died. At least I thought it had and replaced it with another printer. When I mentioned that on an earlier post on this subject, someone mentioned they had done a head cleaning about six times and it cleared the problem up. I guess I just gave up too soon. I did a head cleaning twice and trashed the unit. If I had stuck with the cleaning a bit longer I may not have had to replace the printer.

I'm on my second Eco Tank printer. Only reason, I upgraded to get a sheet feeder which my first one didn't have. It does fine with photos. I can hardly tell the difference between it and my Epson Photo 1400. I've used after market bulk ink supply for a long time but much prefer the factory ready design of the Eco Tank printers. You will not be disappointed.

Hello,
I have an Epson ET-2550 printer and it is just great. I have had it for three years and it copies & prints but no FAX function. The four tanks have lasted for more than a year and a half; the only extra bottle I bought was the black. I think that the machine does a great job of printing color, especially on good photo paper.
I think I must have saved hundreds of $$$ on ink cartridges used by previous printers.

I have the ET-7700 and have been quite happy with it for the functions your wife describes. Photo-printing is pretty good for everyday...would send a "real print" out...

The ECO-Tank system is really great and has reduced my printing cost at home.

Hope that helps.

Doug

I have switched over to the 4760 and 4700 at home and at the office. They both came with 2 year ink supplies. Not having to change cartridges has been great. I do not look to print photos-- but I would try if needed. All of the functions you mentioned work just fine.
An aside..the price of the 4760 has come down. The 4700 is the exact same printer, but came from Dell. At the time, the price was almost $100 cheaper than from Staples or other places. I have one more HP to replace at work..when it dies.

I have used the ET-2650 since it was released for everyday printing, scanning and it has performed well and it seems the ink does last forever.

Ink refills are not costly. For printing photos it has it shortcoming but it was not made for that in a way.

I own an older ET-4550 Eco Tank Printer which I find to be wonderful and economical for everything EXCEPT photos. Best of luck.
