After I finished at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuse, I returned home. On the way is the turn off for Antelope Island. It was too late to catch good shots of the deer and antelope on the island, I hoped to see a bison.

It turns out that very few people were there (Covid and insects), so I drove around. I spotted a bison near the work sheds and then a group near the staff quarters. My last shot is of a bison wandering in the Great Salt Lake.

Downloads are best, although they reveal that these beasts live in the rough.

Great set Mike!! Glad you took a little detour on the way!
Well captured, my good sir!

I appreciate you taking the time to look and comment, Kathy. Any luck with that camera repair issue?

Very nice photos. Those Bison are tough buggers!

You are correct, Chief, up close you can appreciate just how tough. The weekend before one of them killed a tourist.

Great shots and so interesting with insects and different views. The one with bison looking at you - awesome. What distance were you? Thanks for posting.

Thanks for looking. Antelope Island has no barriers, so in this instance I was about 50 feet away (but in my car).

wonderful bison shots, mike! i like no 3 and 4..just stopping to smell the flowers

those little bugs or flies or whatever they are must drive the bunches of bison nuts!

Thanks, MT, they are horrible black flies and the like. They keep visitors away during the late spring and summer months.

I have seen stupid people on TV (Yellowstone) standing a few feet away with their cell phones and then getting mauled or flipped in the air!

Thanks. I was in my car about 50+ feet away using my 100 - 400 lens at 400mm. No crop on that shot.

The weekend before the Monday I took these shots, a tourist was killed by one of the Antelope Island bison. I do not confront them, just photograph them.

Thanks for the generous comment, Fran. The charm of Antelope Island is the unfettered access to the various creatures.
