After I finished at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuse, I returned home. On the way is the turn off for Antelope Island. It was too late to catch good shots of the deer and antelope on the island, I hoped to see a bison.

It turns out that very few people were there (Covid and insects), so I drove around. I spotted a bison near the work sheds and then a group near the staff quarters. My last shot is of a bison wandering in the Great Salt Lake.

Downloads are best, although they reveal that these beasts live in the rough.

Wow, what a fantastic depiction of a day in the "real" life of bison! Those insect swarms are unreal, they must be such a torment. I bet the bison are thrilled when it finally freezes. Outstanding images all!!! My favorite is the stark emptiness of the solitary bison on the great salt lake.

You found some great photo ops, Mike! I particularly like #5 for the distant mountains, and the greenery in foreground with a single flower. Do they eat flowers?

Thanks. Antelope Island is a real trial in the late spring and during summer because of the heat and insects. The bison, of course, have no place else they can go.

Thanks, Linda. When I get an opportunity with relatively rare subjects so close, most time I crop too tight. At their size, they eat whatever they want (LOL). Seriously, I have no idea.

Great series UTMike! It looks like a tough life to be a bison.
