Yes that is what I mean. For some reason the layers were not working for me. I tried wolfmans's link last night, and that seemed to finally work for me!

Larry,

Where did you see the Elements 10 at Costco so cheap? Was it in a add? I tried to look online last night, but did not see it.

Thanks Everyone!

Kim's Skinny Mini really helped me understand layers. She's very clear and you can have PS open and stop her videos and do it with her. She does a lot with textures which I enjoy playing with from time to time.

I've used the original version of Elements 4.0 in a pretty basic way since the early days. Has it gotten alot better over time so that re-investing in it with a 10 version is a good step. Mostly have used the contrast, lighten, color, etc. on the right side plus cropping, red eye but also need to do more at times. Never took the leap to Photo Shop. Up coming sales sound good.

Can anyone comment or point me to a comparison.

Thanks. Gary

I'd keep checking. It seems she just returned from a Shutter Sisters Camp and is just getting back into her blog. I get the Texture Tuesdays email. I just got one and it's been awhile so that may be why.

Maybe I read your post wrong........you are trying to put color into a black and white image? If thats the issue then the answer is you can't. Since the color information isn't there what can your computer work with?

I believe this is what wcasey is trying to accomplish.

Let me ask simpler - any comments or ideas about understanding if an upgarde from the original 4.0 to current is worhtwhile ? Better quality, I'm sure more things from Photo Shop leaking down? Site of feature upgrades over time?

Thx, Gary

Yes Wolfman's picture is what I was trying to do! I already had the color picture, I was just trying to put partial color in it.

Zagdad -- Elements 10 is FAR superior to version 4! There have been many upgrades - the most significant being "true" masking just like CS has (for a fraction of the price). There is also a much better Organizer introduced in version 7, and many other features. Definitely worth the upgrade.
