I agree, nice walk.
That plant with the white flowers is probably yarrow.

Thanks for the help with the ID.

I appreciate the visit, John. It is always a challenge to come up with something new that the dogs can do because the Cottonwood Canyons in the Wasatch do not permit dogs.

It is always good to hear from you, Doc, just stay out of the quicksand.

It's got me a little freaked out. I'm very careful in new habitats and especially when I'm alone. Although I shouldn't be going out alone to some of these places. Stay healthy and be safe.

Thanks for looking, Bruce. Note that the bloom is a bull thistle to Frank.

Might be, but, it looks like this, I think, which is definitely Allium.

The leaves identify the white flower plant as yarrow.

I appreciate that, Bruce, it is a very common wildflower in this area.

Thanks, Carol, finding places that the dog can go is always a challenge.

Yesterday hit 90 degrees F, so our Wednesday Wander was to a local county park about 15 minutes from our house. We gain about 1000 feet in elevation from out house to the trail head and the hike gains another 430 feet to about 6150 feet. Early enough the trees and mountains shade the trail up and back. When we returned the car showed 63 degrees F and at our house it was 75.

The country park is the Yellow Fork Canyon park and our hike was parallel to Rose Creek.

Spring has passed so there were only a few wildflowers left at this low an elevation. The path is a rutted dirt maintenance road that is a popular snowshoe trail in the winter.

Now hikers and horse back riders use it. When we started (as you will see) only a few horse trailers had arrived but by the time we returned there were 10+ trailers in the lot.

Thanks, MT, with summer on us the wild flowers are down but next week I am going to the higher altitudes to get some wildflowers.
